I danced around my Manhattan penthouse looking at the city through the floor to ceiling windows that I have. My stereo was on full blast and I was dancing to the song "Love Like This," by Natasha Beddingfield.
Oh… We go back so far,
Never find a love like this
swingin in your back yard,
all the things that we used to do
We were cool back in high school
ooh I really liked you,
must have been your attitude.
I twirled around my apartment thinking of him. I haven't seen him since High School when we went to Brooklyn Tech together. We were cool and he was so fun to be around just that I didn't admit it until he left the country. That's why you keep on runnin
in and out of my mind.
As the years they'll roll by,
Baby, now I know why
I keep comin back to you.
I thought of how I became a doctor thinking of how to help little kids that could be saved unlike his little brother who died because of a doctor's mistake in diagnosis but he was crooked anyway. As in he only wanted the money You're the only one that knows me, Well this life tried to keep us apart
love it when you hold me,
never find a love like this.
Let me hear you say,
now I'll never be lonely,
look at what you've shown me,
never find a love like this
you keep callin me back to your heart.
Let me hear you say,
I'm so glad you found me,
wrap your world around me,
never find a love like this.
That hug he gave me back in the hospital where I work was like magic and it felt so good. He still used the same cologne. Then I told him what I had felt for him for so long but when he was quiet I ran and went to take care of my kids, well the kids I work with.
All the guys tried to take me,
you're the one who saved me,
I feel like I owe you my life.
And as strange as it may seem,
I'll go if you take me
I'm willing to sacrifice.
Then I remembered Trevor in High School who was obsessed with me and hit me when we were together. How he fought for me even though I wasn't weak, just scared because Trevor was really strong. He helped me recover to the point where I let people touch me.
That's why you keep on runnin You're the only one that knows me,
in and out of my mind.
As the years, they'll roll by,
it's not hard to know why
I keep comin back to you.
love it when you hold me,
never find a love like this.
I remember when we meet when I thought that boys were icky and cooties were real and I remembered with a smile.
I always had a problem with people touching me I don't know why but I did. I was the new kid and I was sitting on my stoop crying because the older bullies in the neighborhood had taken my headband and broken it. There he came and asked if I was okay. I told him and he scowled it turned out that his older brothers were the boys who broke my headband. He was my first friend in the new neighborhood. He took me to the park where we rode our bikes with the other boys and girls in the neighborhood. Then we went to play tag. I told them that I couldn't and he told me to imagine that it was something else when the person touched me.
Let me hear you say,
now I'll never be lonely,
look at what you've shown me,
never find a love like this.
We were on the top of his apartment building that his parents owned. The whole top two floors was his house. The building was high up and it was so cool that you could see all the kids playing the cars and the other blocks. We stayed up there and talked. It was his spot where he could watch from afar and look at the world around him. We used to pretend that we could catch the stars and that they would become people that we gave personalities to our liking. I still play that game with the kids in the hospital when they can't sleep. But we used to stay up there and we called it our spot.
Cause this life tried to keep us apart, May never find a love, love, love a love like this,
you keep calling me back to your heart.
Let me hear you say,
I'm so glad you found me,
wrap your world around me,
never find a love like this.
that still make me think about my middle school kiss.
I sit here in this chair and I wish
for you not to leave me now.
My friends they always told me
not to make you my wifey,
man they was putting you down.
And now they see we rollin,
me and you, we strollin,
they don't wanna come around.
I remembered the night that he kissed me. I was still in my red and gold graduation dress. It was 11:00. I was crying because my date used me to get back at his old girlfriend and they were kissing when I saw them. I ran out of the graduation party and ran into him. He took me home and we were on the roof. He told me not to cry and hugged me. I felt safe and I looked into his eyes I saw him. He pulled my face to his and kissed me, it was soft and short but it made my heart beat faster. Then my parents called and I had to go. As I was closing the door I thought I heard him mutter "I love you," but I had to go. I never got to tell him and he left early the next day, so I never go to until today.
Let me hear you say,
you're the only one that knows me,
love it when you hold me,
never find a love like this.
Let me hear you say,
now I'll never be lonely,
look at what you've shown me,
never find a love like this.
Then my doorbell rang and I danced to the door and opened it . there was José in all his glory, hiding something behind his back and said "I love you too." I smiled and pulled him down to kiss me. This is what I had waited for since I was 17 and now I'm 28 and finally getting it. he stopped and I said "11 years was too long I think I need another kiss." Then finally he showed me what was behind his back, a bouquet of roses, carnations, lilies, and tulips, and all red, my favorite color. I took them and jumped on him and hugged him. He untangled me from him put the bouquet on the table.
When this life tries to keep us apart, Oh… Never find a love like this…
you keep callin me back to your heart.
Let me hear you say,
I'm so glad you found me,
wrap your world around me,
never find a love like this,
When this life tried to keep us apart,
you keep callin me back to your heart,
Let me hear you say,
Oh… Never find a love like this.
Oh… Never find a love like this
Then he pulled me close to him and we danced as the song started and with my head cuddled into the crook of his neck. Him whispering his mantra "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you…" All I did was smile living in that moment of bliss.
Six months later he proposed on the top of my building where there is a garden with Christmas lights all around. There were roses, lilies, tulips, and carnations all adorned with Christmas lights casting a red glow over our dinner. When he turned on the stereo "Love Like This" played and we danced, the two doctors, who were in love.
Well I hope that you liked my first oneshot maybe twoshot but that's based on if you liked it. Just so you know I don't own the song "Love Like This" or i would be rich.
I have nothing against doctors, its just that i needed something to inspire her to want to be one.
