Ties to Hate
How can something that destroys be so sweet?
Hand in hand with hate.
Searched for like some forbidden treat.
Thought of as if tied with fate.
Though there is an allure to that unattained,
Which then leads to tries.
Enough work to keep the fire sustained,
Enough to let the flame rise.
And search they do without rest.
Hidden from the watching eyes.
Until they've passed that bittersweet test,
And rid themselves of their uncaring guise.
The question is, do they search to be accepted?
And if they do, how can they hope to be respected?
A/N-I had to write this sonnet for my English Honors class over Thanksgiving break and I decided to post it because I actually liked it. The sonnet's topic had to be about love, but you couldn't use the word "love" in the actual poem. It could be about how great love is, how bad, anything to do with love. Review Please!
