Therapy dogs are truly amazing...people respond and smile.

Such a smile,

Such a response.

While yet sleeping

and lying unresponsive,

the nurse took my hand

and placed it upon your head

You were patient,

Obedient...

And you were actually allowed in...

You, a Portuguese water dog,

Not exactly your line of work,

But friendly, love to work for treats,

Calm...

We met again in rehab,

I found out your history,

Quite impressive.

I was just glad you were here...

Laughing eyes, warm fur, wagging tail...

The wonderful smell of puppies...

Such joy, and a smile to my lips...

Such a smile.
