Blackwing impatiently tapped his fingers against the arm of his black leather chair. Rena stood slightly to his left, papers rustling quietly as she glanced through several files at once.
"Aleysier is coming, I trust?" he said finally, a hint of impatience in his tones. "If not, I have other things that demand my attention."
Rena looked up. "He stood up as I left. I expect he will be here within a few minutes at the latest."
True to her word, a moment later Aleysier strode confidently into the room. "Yes?" he asked.
Blackwing glanced at Rena and nodded. She bowed slightly and left the room. Blackwing cleared his throat and motioned Aleysier to take a seat. "Who is the girl you brought in? I haven't heard of her before. And I've heard of all the best."
Aleysier laughed dryly. "It's the real best that can keep their identity a secret. And she's one of them."
"Hm." Blackwing paused, thinking. "Where's she from? Tell me a little about her."
Aleysier met his eye. "She's a previous spy from... from Xynases' agency. She left a little under a year ago."
"Wise choice," Blackwing muttered, staring at the floor. He looked up. "Is she worth it? How much do you really know about her?"
A lot more than you know about me… I used to work with her. Aleysier crossed his arms. "She's good. One of the best I know. Let me finish training her."
Blackwing mused quietly for a moment. "Let's talk about this a little more," he said finally. "What do you have to offer me?"
A small smile spread across Aleysier's face. "I can offer you what you want most," he said, leaning forward.
