Chapter Nine

I hadn't ever imagined any way possible for Josh to be anything but drop-dead gorgeous. And he still wasn't. I walked towards the car, and it looked like his evil twin took his place while I was gone. His hair was a crimson color - a very dark and vibrant red. His eyes were jet black, like a shiny piece of coal or onyx. Both of the dark colors made his porcelain skin all that much paler. But somehow, with the right outfit, I can imagine it working. For some unidentifiable reason, he was still breathtakingly beautiful.

But as exotic and stunning as the changes were, I knew it wasn't that way three minutes before when I got out of the car. And, as slow as I may be sometimes, I was also aware that when I got out of the car there was not a cloud in the sky. And I had the distinct feeling that I wasn't the one that caused that change.

I walked up to the driver's door and Josh seems happy to be in my presence again. He was only happy because he was unaware of his appearance though. I guess ignorance really is bliss.

Ty: Josh – your hair. And – your eyes. What's happening?

His eyes shot to the rearview mirror and a very dramatic gasp escaped his lips as his hand shot up to his mouth. You need to go. Get out of here. Shut up voice. I'm busy. Josh sounded as if he had begun to sob in his seat. He turned his head very slowly towards me, and for the first time in my life I understood the phrase "scared to death". I think my first reaction was screaming my lungs out. I know I did that at one point. I hadn't ever been able to imagine Josh as anything but drop-dead gorgeous, but I guess there is a first time for everything.

He looked up at me, and streaks of blue and purple outlined and zig-zaged across his face. And I was right, he had been sobbing. Only, tears weren't coming out of his eyes, blood was. He looked like all of the fluid had been drained from his body. Like, one of Samara's disgusting victims. I couldn't even stand too look at him.

As soon as he saw my reaction, his head whipped back around to the mirror, and it shattered. But, as soon as the mirror shattered, his face was back to normal. Everything was. His eyes returned to their ocean blue and his hair was back to the chocolate shade with caramel highlights. They know what you can do. They can track you psychokinetic emissions. They will be here in a matter of seconds.

What? Who is here? How do they know what we can do? Turn around and you will see a black SUV. They are already here. I didn't need to turn around. Every fiber of my being knew the black SUV was there.

Ty: No…

Things are about to get so much worse. Whatever happens, know the man in that car is pure evil. Do not listen to a word he says.

Ty: We need to go.

Josh: Get in.

Too late for that. Now you'll have to fight. My eyes shot to Josh. All I wanted to do was hold him. Tell him I love him. Make all of what was about to happen go away.

Ty: It's too late.

I heard the SUV's door open and the man step out. For the first time, I turned around to look. God was I disappointed. He was PATHETICALLY unoriginal. The black and white suit with the dark shades – God. He walked towards us with ease, and set his sickly looking hands on the hood of Josh's car.

Man: I have a long and complicated name, so you can call me, Bob. It was nice meeting you. I hope to see you sometime again in the future.

Then he just, started walking backwards towards his car. He laughed maniacally the entire way there. He stopped a few feet from his SUV and looked directly into my eyes.

Bob: You know Ty, for being a sight-seer, you really are blind sometimes. You might wanna watch out for that truck.

I turned to my left to find the Redneck speeding towards us. I understood he had no intention of stopping. I felt rage take over every fiber of my being. Gnawing, clawing, digging to escape. There was so much anger. So much hate. It was pushing against my skin, begging for release. I wanted it to be free. I needed it to be free. And once my mind gave permission to my body for the rage to be freed, all hell broke loose.

Wind swirled around me, and I realized Josh was getting out of the car. His features had returned to that of the gothic angel I had witnessed upon my arrival back at the car.

Josh: He really should have left well enough alone.

The ground started to rise behind him, like a tidal wave on a storm struck ocean. The wave shrank back into the ground and the sky became dark yet again. His car was mere feet in front of us.

Ty: Josh…

His hand clasped around mine and I heard his voice in my head. Don't worry, my sweet. I will never let anything happen to you. The ground beneath his back tires rose swiftly into the air, sending his truck throttling over our heads. It was in hundreds of pieces by the time it hit the ground again.

Josh turned to Bob. He stood in front of his gas guzzler with a malicious smile spread across his face.

Ty: I suggest you leave.

Josh: Now.

His shit-eating grin turned into a smirk as his eyes narrowed on us.

Bob: You two faggots have no idea what you're getting yourselves into.

I suddenly felt the need to rip him limb from limb. Do it. Do it now. Before he hears you.

Bob: Too late old friend. I had no idea you were helping the little twerps. I'll keep that in mind.

Josh was ripped off the ground beside me and thrown high into the air.

Bob: That's better. Now we have a few moments alone. Now, why don't we just end this all now and you two just come along with me. Then everything will be nice and happy and we won't have to fight anymore. Fighting really is a bore.

Ty: I don't think so.

Bob: Then I guess little Joshie here has to die.

Just as the words oozed from his mouth Josh shot down from the sky and into the ground. Suddenly he was ripped from the ground and was hovering above the ground, Bob's hand firmly clasped around his neck.

Bob: Do you really want your little lover here to die? All because you won't just get in the car!

He won't kill him. He doesn't have the guts.

Suddenly Josh's head snapped to the side and his struggling arms went lifeless. With the flick of his arm Bob threw Josh's limp body to the side. Then, without warning, my body went hurdling into his hand. He suspended me off the ground and stared directly into my eyes.

Bob: You disgusting pigs will be a warning to all of your other Freakshow friends. Everyone who disobeys a command given by Kancer – will be terminated.

The hand that wasn't firmly wrapped around my jugular ripped through my abdomen and everything went white.
