Clarity
Smoke cautiously, gradually presses into
my unlit, filtered room through a slight crack in the door
just barely ajar so that not too much light floods in;
it clings to the room's bare white walls,
staining them the color of ash,
and seeps into the air, blurring my vision
so that even in absolute darkness I see only shades of grey.
