Kim groaned and chucked something at the door. It was to early to get up, why wasn't her sister smart enough to see that? Kim threw the blanket over her head and snuggled into her pillow, preparing to go back to sleep. She could hear voices down stairs, her father and Kat, but she paid no attention to them. Sleep over took her mind… happy memories fuzzing into to her drowsy mind
"Kimberly! Katherine!" Jackson called from the bottom of the circular stairs.
Kim was the first to respond. She took the stairs one step at a time, her red hair bouncing up and down.
Kat didn't notice her on the stairs. She came flying down the steps, her silver glasses on, and a book in her hand.
"Thanks a lot, Kat," Kim snapped playfully as the older woman nearly mowed her over.
"You're welcome!" Kat called back, grinning at her. With their red hair, they looked almost identical.
Jackson simply shook his head, walking towards his office. Kat and Kim followed.
"What's going on? Who did Kat beat up this time?" Kim asked, sitting down on the couch.
"Hey!" Kat pretended to look insulted. "I only hit one person this week!"
"Wow. Is that a new record?"
Kat stuck her tongue out as she claimed the chair closest to Jackson's desk. She propped her feet up on the wood, her worn sneakers poking out of the bottom hem of her jeans.
"This isn't about Katherine's behavior," Jackson said. He sat at his desk, glaring at Kat's sneakers. She didn't move her feet.
"Then what is it? Are you kicking me out?" Kim asked with a laugh.
"No, no. But it does have to do with you, Kim."
"Okay…what's going on?"
"It might make more sense if you read it yourselves." Jackson pushed a folder across the desk towards them. Kat eagerly snatched it.
"Was Damion speeding again?" she asked, flipping through the folder as Kim sat down beside her. The younger woman rolled her eyes, glancing over Kat's shoulder at the papers.
"Kim Carter?" Kat read aloud.
She turned to look up at her father. Jackson nodded. His face was unreadable.
"What?!" Kim grabbed the folder from Kat. She scanned the papers quickly. "Is this for real?"
"I retrieved these from David Carston's effects almost two years ago," Jackson explained, mentioning one of his old bosses and Kim's father.
Kim sat the folder back on the desk. Her face was extremely pale.
"Wait a minute. So you're saying that Kim…" Kat began, running over the facts in her head.
"Kim is my daughter, too."
"Why didn't you say anything before?" Kim demanded.
"I was worried about upsetting you both, not to mention Lisa. She doesn't know about any of this. Hell, I didn't even know you were my daughter until I saw the papers. Sara never told me…" he said softly, his ice-blue eyes meeting Kat's identical blue ones and Kim's gold-colored eyes.
"Th—that's why David…"
"Yes, Kim. That's why he hurt you. He knew. He knew about Sara's affair. That's why he hated me—and in turn—hated you."
A tear escaped Kim's eye and ran down her cheek. Kat turned in her chair, her feet coming off Jackson's desk.
"We're half-sisters?" Kat asked quietly.
Their father nodded. "Yes, you are. You're both my daughters—my baby girls."
Kim jumped out of her chair and hurried around the desk. She hugged Jackson tightly.
He beamed, hugging her back. "Kimmy… my little Kim…"
"You're not upset with me, are you?"
Kim shook her head no, still holding onto him.
Not wanting to be left out, Kat joined her father and half-sister, throwing her arms around both. "I always wanted a little sister!" she cried happily.
"Get up, Kimmy, we need to leave!" Kat groaned as she threw the blanket off of Kim.
"SLEEP!" Kim argued, hiding her head under her pillow.
Kat growled and grabbed Kim's ankles, "You are not making us late, Kimberly Carter!" Kat slid her little sister off the bed and she hit the ground with a thud.
"HEY!" Kim grabbed the nearest thing to her, the alarm clock, and threw it at Kat. It struck her in her hip and then hit the ground.
"Dammit, Kimmy! That hurt!" Kat howled, clutching her side.
Kim only climbed back onto the bed, she grabbed the pillow and put it over her head, trying to get back to sleep.
"Kim, c'mon, just get up already, I brought you a Pepsi!" Kat dangled the soda above Kim's pillow and she slowly sat up.
Kim snatched the soda and threw her legs over the bed, "I'm up, happy now?"
