A boy sat on the couch in front of the TV, staring at his feet with an unhappy expression.
A girl sat down beside him. "What's wrong?" she asked.
He sighed. "Can you answer me a question honestly?"
"Of course."
"What is the perfect boyfriend like?"
She stared at the ceiling. "Well… he would be tall, good looking. He would hold open doors, listen when she spoke, a romantic, fit. He would cook well, dress well. He would be a single sibling and would pay more attention to her then anyone else. He would drive a really nice car, and would drive her around wherever she wanted. He would know anything and everything about her likes and dislikes. He would stand up for her and himself. He would be accommodating, but not a pushover. Sweet, but he wouldn't overdo it. He would worship the ground she walked on, and would make romantic gestures. He would be sturdy as a rock when she needed him, but would occasionally break down and would need her."
He looked troubled. "Sounds like a lot."
She smiled. "That's because it is."
He looked up at her. "You wish you had a boyfriend like him." It was not a question, but she answered anyway.
"No."
"Why not?" he asked curiously. "Too plastic?"
She shook her head. "No, no, he wouldn't be plastic, not the perfect boyfriend."
"Then why don't you want him?"
She smiled at him again. "He isn't you."
