That lost feeling

Destini's emerald eyes glittered ferociously. The sun beat down upon their heads just meters away from the shade. The angel's heart quickened. "He was my husband." Her body shook in rage and humiliation. "But not someone worth mentioning…" A black ring appeared around her iris for a split second before she blinked, returning her pupils to their forest green.

The angel put a hand on her shoulder. His soft brown eyes caressed her body gently. His mouth went dry when he needed it most. He wet his lips and bent his head over her shoulder. "He was not worthy of you…" she slapped his hand away.

"Don't touch me!" she transferred her anger to him. "You think I don't know that?" she hissed pushing her right hand against his chest, shoving him backward. Her black tresses flew up at her movement. "He was worth nothing!" her hands remained fisted at her side. She cradled her right hand in her left. The angel put his hand on her shoulder once more.

A trembling in her shoulder that she hadn't known started, stopped. "I know…" he breathed softly. She looked up into those comforting hazel eyes and felt bathed in warmth for a moment. What the hell was she doing?

A scream tore through the streets. Some pedestrians looked startled for a short while, and then shrugged it off. The angel stiffened and Destini tore her gaze away from him. She gave the area a visual once-over. A small pulse ran through her body shocking her nervous system temporarily. She saw his pained face. Was he not used to death yet? She closed her eyes with a small frown. She yanked on the handcuff's chain and pulled the angel to where the vibration was the strongest.

The house stood alone and seemed oddly placed among the other renovated houses that stood beside it. Some floorboards were missing and the place itself had an eerie feel. Destini pulled her handcrafted gun from her hostler at the waist of her jeans. And lifted it expertly, placing her left hand beneath it.

"Duck!" the angel cried pointing at a flying projectile that smashed a nearby window. Instead of doing as he asked Destini lifted her weapon to aim at the object. A white duck fell wings flapping from above. It uttered a soft quack and waddled on the pavement. Destini stared at it open mouthed.

"Oh you've gotta be kidding me! What are the chances of a freaking duck flying in an abandoned house!" the angel shrugged at Destini's out burst.

"Maybe its migrating season?" he suggested, earning a dagger filled glared from the black haired sorceress. She gripped his shirt front.

"I don't know who you think you are! But-" The sound of shattering glass forced her to release her hold on him. He jumped, shielding her body from the shattered glass. A befanged white scaled monstrosity clawed its way through the window.

"Call me Leimar." He smiled gently, his clothes had the remains of glass sticking out of them. He shook it off and held out a hand to help her to her feet. She ignored it and stood on her own as the beast leapt at them.

"I wantttt-" the monster began to moan in a voice made to scrape dried paint off of walls. Destini lifted her gun and swiftly aimed and fired at the thing till it stopped moaning… Fired a couple more shots. You know… Just in case. And a couple more, because it made her feel better… The burning in her chest eased. A large hand tightened over her right hand and squeezed softly, pushing her gun down.

"I'm pretty sure it's…" he craned his neck to see the severely gunned body. She spun around, gun in hand and pressed the barrel between his legs. He froze on the spot eyeing the deadly gun.

"Not a word…" she hissed lethally, lifting the gun to tap his chin. She turned and walked over to the body. White scales lined it, it had rows of jagged teeth, five inch claws and a serpentine body. A low murmuring sounded.

"I'm going to have to start wearing a crotch guard…" the angel, Leimar sulked his blond bangs fell before his eyes. Destini flicked her gaze to him.

"Shut up." She told him angrily. The chanting was getting louder. She needed just five minutes to locate where it was coming from. Leimar tapped her shoulder gingerly. He broke her concentration easily. She twisted and smacked him on the jaw. "Stop it! I'm trying to-" he pressed a finger to her lips, caught her in his arms and slunk backwards into a spider infested closet.

She was about to protest but quieted at the sound of voices. "It's done." A masculine voice concluded. He appeared to be a modern day wizard. Gold streaks marked his aura... The sign of a high wizard or one with such a potential...

"What about the failures running loose?" a hesitant voice asked from his side. The young raven haired boy tilted his head to meet the wizards gaze. Flecks of green and the scent of green pastures and warm sunshine… He was definitely a young innocent. A perfect recruit for both the heaven and hell…

An innocent was always highly tested by both sides. Tempted by demons and preached to by angels. "I saw it first." Destini flicked her eyes up to meet him. He looked down at her with a wicked grin that was so uncharacteristical for him she almost jumped out of her skin. She narrowed her eyes at his smirk.

"Au contraire, my fair… This is someone I cannot allow you to touch." The angel lifted his arm and a soft ring of light glowed around the boy. Destini snorted.

"You clearly underestimate me." Destini's eyes glimmered like dragon fire. "A spell like this is child's p-" her sentence faltered when Leimar caught her chin and tilted her head up. She slapped his hand away. "Do you have death wish or something?"

"You're eyes… The black is!" Black streaks leaked around her iris moving over and around her green eyes every so often. "You've entered in the marking? Don't do it! The chances of surviving are-"

"I'm made of tougher stuff." she told him calmly. "You don't think I can do it?"

Leimar forced his feelings down. "If… If anyone could do it… It's you." He managed to say.

She flashed a sassy smile that warmed him inside out. "Don't I know it!" But he wished she wouldn't.

Once she became a Hellion there'd be no saving her.

And his plan...

Would have been for nothing...
