I was really and Truly terrified. I had never been so scared before; which was odd, considering what I had been through. But, strange as it was, here I sat, terrified of the girl sitting next to me and gently holding my hand. Christine. A thousand thoughts flashed through my mind at the same time. Did she love me, if not why was she holding my hand, was she as frightened as I was, could anyone else of the bus see, did she want to kiss me as badly as I wanted to kiss her. I hate questions I can't answer.

As these questions plagued my mind, her soft hand and gentle grip calmed me keeping me in check. Then after a minute of what I could tell was nervous thought and inner debating, she gently placed her head on my shoulder. Now I was really freaked, as I was sure that, despite the darkness, most everyone on the bus could see. It was only because of the lack of light that we had gone undetected up until now. Ironically, the lack of lights was also what kept us from seeing it before it hit us. Literally.

Something slammed into the bus so hard it nearly tipped us over, the next impact did. I grabbed Christine, automatically wrapping myself around protectively as we were thrown from the bus. I continued to hold her protectively as we flew threw the air, for a moment it was almost peaceful; that ended quickly. We slammed into the ground, I on the bottom (of course). As we hit something sharp stabbed deep into my back, I cried out in pain, and pulled myself up off of the blade.

Keeping Christine close in my arms I looked around. It was utter devastation. The bus had been toppled and the side smashed inwards. It looked like it had been his by a big rig. But there was no truck to be found, and the side that was bent in had been facing off the road. As Christine lay in my arms, hovering near unconsciousness I knew what had done this, and decided to confront him.

"Come out and view your handiwork Nightwalker", I called into the darkness "come out and play", my face hardened. "Parasite!"

"Parasite?" Came the calm reply, I turned to see a tall shadow standing near me, "Now why would you say a nasty thing like that, Dog" I snarled angrily. "What the hell is wrong with you, you just randomly decide to attack a bus full of teens?" The Vampire smiled mockingly, "It's quite simple really, an entire bus full of weaklings, with no weapons to boot! And then there's the opportunity to kill a Lycan, all alone, without his pack to protect him." He laughed again, throwing his head back as he did so. "But I am merciful, so I will turn and allow you thirty seconds to run, run like hell itself is after you." He sneered and turned his back to me. "Run puppy dog, run far and run fast."

I had no intention of running. I walked a small distance away and set Christine down, laying my jacket over her as a blanket, and removing my shirt to roll up and put below her head. She opened her eyes slightly and muttered my name. I put my lips right up to her ear and whispered, "what ever you may see, whatever you may hear, do not get up or come after me, I will be back soon." I closed her eyes and walked a short distance away. I changed.

The bones in my body snapped and popped, rearranging themselves in ways that human bones were never meant to do; but to call me human would be a stretch. My face burst outwards into a muzzle, filling quickly with razor-sharp teeth. I was complete, whole. I raised my snout towards the moon above, and howled.
