Chapter 1
Four Years Later
O-o-O-o-O
"Matt sweety can you please put on your shoes, we have to go!" I said to my 3-year-old son Matthew.
It's been four years and I still haven't gotten over the fact that Marc cheated on me. I did end up in a little bit of depression while I was pregnant with Matthew. But it wasn't extremely horrible. At times during the 9 months I had to force myself to eat for the sake of him but it was all worth it when he was born.
"Momma, tie!" Matthew said tugging on my pants leg. I looked down and smiled thanking god Matty looked exactly like me and not Marc.
He had a head of wavy dark brown hair with brown eyes and a button nose.
I believe that's what helped me break out of my depression faster. The fact that my son did not look like his father.
"Momma do we hafta move to tat fairy pace?" He asked me as I finished his shoes.
"It's Fairyland and yes we do honey. Aunt Josie needs mommy's help really badly." I explained.
Besides leaving Marc and all the memories we shared back in Fairyland, I also left my best friend Josie to fend for herself. Josie was the geeky quiet girl out of the two of us. You know the bookworm type with glasses and frizzy hair. Except her hair wasn't fizzy cause I just wouldn't allow it. She has also been my best friend since I was five. And once my father passed she packed her things and left with me to Fairyland.
But once Marc did what he did, I left telling Josie that she didn't have to follow me. And now I realize what a mistake that was.
You see 3 months after I left, this guy moved into town and instantly caught Josie's attention. She thought he was sweet, kind, and sexy but as the years went on she saw him for his true colors.
Shortly after they began dating Alan began to abuse Josie. She told me it wasn't anything to be alarmed about but once he put her in the hospital I knew it was.
Now she's pregnant with his child and is afraid to leave because she doesn't want to risk the life of her baby. When she told me this on the phone a week ago, I quit my job, packed all mine and Matty's belongings and told her I was moving back home.
And that's where we are headed right now. Back to the place where all my sorrows started. But now wasn't the time to wallow in self pity. Now was the time to protect my best friend and her baby.
"Come on Matty, time to go." I said as I grabbed my son's small hand and walked out my now empty house.
O-o-O-o-O
3 hours later I found myself staring at an all too familiar sign.
"Welcome to Fairyland, Georgia where all your dreams come true. Population 2,250" I read to myself. After reading the sign I had the strong urge to destroy the sign, but I couldn't for 2 reason's. 1. I wasn't strong enough and 2. I had Matthew sleeping in the backseat.
With a scared sigh I stepped on the gas and, watched as I drove over the boarder. I once again found myself back in Fairyland.
"Well I'll be. If it isn't Amelia Rey Thomas" I heard someone say as soon as I stepped out my car 20 minutes later. I visibly flinched as I turned around to see who called me.
"Hey Bucky." I said nervously. "Been a while hasn't it."
"Yeah it has, 4 years to be exact. Marc's doing fine if your wondering." He said with a laugh. Leave it to me to run into Marc's best friend as soon as I get into town.
"I actually wasn't wondering but thanks for the useless information Bucky." I said as I turned around and started walking towards my new house.
"So this is him huh?" He asked catching up to me. "Marc's little boy."
I bit my tongue so hard at that comment that I ended up bleeding. "No this isn't his son. I aborted his child. This is another man's baby." I told him placing a now awake Matthew on the floor and telling him to go play.
"Oh, So did you run away from him just like you did Marc 4 years ago?" He asked causing me to slap him.
"You Bucky Roberts have a lot of nerve to say what you just did." I said raising my voice. "He's the one who cheated on me NOT the other way around!" I continued to yell.
"Hey! Can you two move this argument somewhere else some of us are trying to sleep." Someone said from their house doorway.
"Sorry Vic." Bucky said apologetically. I craned my neck to see who this Vic was and became wide-eyed as realization dawned on me.
"Vic as in Victor Morgan?" I asked Bucky.
"Do you know any other Vic's in Fairyland?" He retorted through clinched teeth. I laughed to myself knowing Vic still intimidated people here.
I looked over at Vic and felt myself turn red when I noticed he was watching me too. These past four years have done Vic good. When I left he was about 6 feet and lanky with that Zac Efron hairstyle.
But now, oh my god he's like 6 foot 3 and build like Adonis. He also cut his hair and ha clock shadow. Some people can't pull that off but Vic did it perfectly. His eyes I believe are what stuck out the most because they were this crystal blue color that shined in the light.
"You done watchin' me Amelia Rey?" Vic asked causing me to blush deeper and turn away.
"Well it was nice seeing two familiar faces again, let's do this again sometime." I said sarcastically. "Matthew Jonas come to momma." I said as I headed up the steps to my house. "Bucky you'll find it's in your best interest if you don't mention this to Marc."
"Are you threatin' me Amelia Rey?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest.
"Oh no Bucky I wouldn't dare do that. Think of it as a friendly warning." I smiled before walking into the house with Matthew in tow.
I spent the remainder of the afternoon unpacking most of my living room and kitchen while Matty played in his completely empty room. The movers came around 2 in the afternoon and unloaded everything, they even stayed to help arrange the heavier furniture. The only room that wasn't finished yet was Matthew's and that's because I needed to paint his walls the sky blue color that he loved so much.
By 8 most of the house was done so I decided to go see Josie. She didn't know I was in town yet and I planned on surprising her. I just hoped she was home alone because if she was with Alan I can't say I'll be responsible for my actions.
"Matthew come out the living room we're leaving." I said as I gathered my purse and keys. I watched as Matthew came out the living room with a pout on his face. "Why are you pouting? What's wrong?" I asked squatting down in front of him.
"I wanna doggy." He said poking his bottom lip out further. God he's starting this again. Before we left Atlanta he would drone on and on for hours about a dog. At first it was a monkey, because Dora the explorer had one. Then he seen the dog from that toilet paper commercial and since then has been whining for one.
"Matthew we've been over this. After we get settled down here I'll think about getting you the dog." I said standing. I grabbed his little hand in mine and left the house.
"Really momma?" He asked. You could seriously hear the excitement in his voice.
"Yes Matthew seriously." I replied opening the car door.
"YAY!" He yelled loudly buckling himself into his car seat. I laughed as I got in on the driver side. I started the car and pulled out the driveway, heading down the street towards Josie's house.
20 minutes later I was standing in front of a glass door waiting for a response. I saw Josie walking down her steps and smiled. After seeing who it was she ran out the door and into my arms.
"Oh my god when did you get in?" She asked pulling me into the house.
"Josie calm down your forgetting Matthew." I laughed before signaling for Matty to follow me.
He was a little hesitant at first but once he seen Josie up close he knew who she was. He started smiling and blabbering and telling her about the doggy we were getting soon.
"So when did you get in?" Josie asked again after she gave Matty a toy.
"Sometime this morning." Replied sitting on the couch.
"Well we have to go out and celebrate." She announced not once calming down.
"Josie...ok we'll go out to celebrate but seriously calm down your starting to spook me out." I laughed. She shot me a dirty look and stuck out her tongue before turning to Matthew.
"Matty wanna go eat?" She asked.
"Yeah. Momma come too?" He asked looking between us.
"I sure am. Come on the car's outside." I replied standing.
We walked outside, got into my car and drove off to find somewhere to eat.
20 minutes later I found myself hating Josie as we stood outside a place that held too many memories for me.
Katie's Family Restaurant and Karaoke Lounge
"Seriously Josie?" I asked trying not to run away.
"What? What's wrong with the place?" She asked looking at me. "OH please Marc doesn't even eat here anymore" She said as if she read my mind.
"Whatever..." I grumbled as I walked inside.
As soon as I stepped inside and the bell rang above my head everyone stopped what they were doing and gawked at me.
"Well if it ain't..."
"Is that Amelia Rey..."
"Bless my soul yes it is..."
Each whisper had managed to piss me off more. It wasn't enough that I was in the same place that I met Marc in a couple years ago. But now everyone in town knew that Marc's flighty ex girlfriend had finally returned home.
"Yes, yes it's me Im back now you all stop your gawking and eat your food." I ordered with a wave of my hand.
"You still got that same 'tough girl' persona I see." A voice said from behind me. I let go of Matty's hand and watched as he ran to Josie before turning to see who said that. Once I turned I came face to face with Vic.
"Yeah I do. Wanna go down memory lane and relive what happened the last time you were on the receiving end of my tough girl persona" I asked placing my hands on my hips.
"No I'll pass thank you very much." Vic said with a chuckle.
The incident I'm talking about occurred 7 years ago when I first got here. I was sitting in a little booth in this same restaurant when Vic thought it was ok to approach me. He slid in right next to me and put his arm around my shoulder. He didn't get one word out his mouth before he felt my blade poking his neck. My exact words were 'If you value your vocal cords you'll take your arm off me right now and leave.' He told me I had guts and if I ever wanted to hang out with him give him a call.
I never took him up on the offer because that same night I met Marc but I know if Marc would of never came I would probably be with him.
"So... What you doing back?" He asked as we walked towards the booth.
"I'm back for Josie." I said simply with a shrug. "She needed me so Im here."
"Ain't you a wonderful best friend." Vic laughed.
"Im a horrible best friend." I murmured looking at the floor.
"What makes you-"
"Ami Rey?"
I knew that nickname only two people called me by my moms name and one of those people are dead.
I knew that voice. That voice is the one that's always in my dreams the one that haunts me constantly. I shuttered, cringed, and dry heaved before turning around and coming face to face with my ex.
"Hello Marc." I said not looking at his face. I was too busy trying to locate Matthew. I threw a quick glance at Josie who seemed to be doing that same thing I was. Panic ran through my body as I began to get nervous.
"Matthew?" I called. This whole Marc confrontation would have to wait until I know where my son is.
"Vic have you seen Matthew." I asked with my voice shaking. Vic replied by shaking his head.
Noticing my tone of voice Vic immediately began searching for him as well.
"MATTHEW JONAS!" I screamed. The people in the restaurant ignored my panic state and continued to talk amongst themselves. Bastards!
"Who's Matthew?" I heard Marc ask but instead I ignored him and started walking around the restaurant. And just when I was about to break down and cry I heard his voice.
"Momma sing," he said. His little voice echoing everywhere. It was then that I knew were he was. He was on the stage near the microphone.
Me, Josie and Vic rushed over to find him sitting in the stool playing with the mike. I immediately picked him up and smothered him with kisses.
"Matthew don't you ever do that again you scared mommy half to death." I whispered.
"I just wanna hear you sing momma." He whispered back with a smile.
"Yeah Amelia Rey sing for us." The crowd said in unison.
I looked up at everyone and seen them all watching me. I then looked up at Marc and watched his eyes dawn with recognition. That was the last thing I needed at the moment. But I knew it would happen sooner or later.
I took my eyes off of him to see who his date was and felt the anger rush through me. His date just so happened to be his Fiancee from 4 years ago. Well now Im pretty sure it's his wife but whatever.
She smiled victoriously at me before wrapping her arms around Marc's waist. Which pissed me off more.
I handed Matty to Josie and told her not to let him out of her sight. I then turned and gave Vic a hug thanking him for helping me search for Matty.
Whispers broke out when we pulled apart and I knew by the end of the night rumors would be flying around that me and Vic were a couple.
Oh the joy of small towns... (Note my sarcasm.)
Anyway when Vic got off the stage I grabbed the mike and sat on the stool. Almost instantly an applause broke out giving me the strength I needed to pull this task off. I looked at the list of songs they had and chose the one I knew a certain someone would know who it was for.
I listened as the opening chords began to play and waiting for my cue to start singing. Once it came I sang as if my life depended on it
I remember the way you made love to me Didn't you know how much I loved you I can't get you out of my head Didn't you know how much I loved you One day justice will come and find you Didn't you know how much I loved you Didn't you know how much I loved you
Like I was all you'd ever need
Did you change your mind
Well I didn't change mine
Now here I am trying to make sense of it all
We were best friends now we don't even talk
You broke my heart
Ripped my world apart
Didn't you know how much I loved you, baby
I gave you everything, every part of me
Didn't you feel it when I touched you
Didn't I rock you when I loved you, baby
Baby, tell me
Didn't you know how much I loved you
I still feel you in this bed
Left me all alone
You couldn't be more gone
From falling apart to fighting mad
From wanting you back to not giving a damnI've felt it all
I've been to the wall
Didn't you know how much I loved you, baby
I gave you everything, every part of me
Didn't you feel it when I touched you
Didn't I rock you when I loved you, baby
Baby, tell me
Didn't you know how much I loved you
And I'll be right there in your memory to remind you
Didn't you know how much I loved you, baby
I gave you everything, every part of me
Didn't you feel it when I touched you
Didn't I rock you when I loved you, baby
Baby, tell me
Didn't you know how much I loved you, baby
I gave you everything, every part of me
Didn't you feel it when I touched you
Didn't I rock you when I loved you, baby
Baby, tell me
I gave you everything, every part of me.
Once again the crowd broke out into an applause as I bowed and headed back over to Josie. I half expected Vic to be there sitting in my spot when I got to them but all I found was emptiness.
With a disappointed sigh I sat down across from Josie and Matty who was sitting in a high chair.
"Amelia that was amazing." Josie gushed.
I was about to respond to her when I seen a pair of arms reach down and take Matthew out of his seat.
A/N: OMG Im so sorry for the late update. The reason why I couldn't update sooner was because I injured my shoulder and found it difficult to type and not feel pain. Anyway I hope this was all worth the wait and I cant wait to read your reviews. Oh and BTW I didn't have this proof read so if there are any errors SORRY!
Thanks
