A/N: Finally its here. For all of you who think I'm a "morbid" writer, here is a story with a happy ending. Please R&R!

Darkness, never-ending darkness prevailed

Light was but a distant memory

The only song was one of mourning

Echoing continually in the hearts of all

The house in the valley, the one built with love

The source of joy, of hope, was dead.

The raven-haired sister stood at the door

Gazing at the remainder of her home

The plain was black and burnt

The once-proud forest was cold and subdued

The people who scavenged for food were mere shadows

She clenched her fists, a tear on her cheek

Without her sister, she was little better than dead

A hundred years could not ease the ache of loss

She turned to the sky, the gap in the mountains

The place where the monster departed at last

Where he vanished forever with half of her heart

She raised a shaking hand and swore an oath

An oath of vengeance against the creature that destroyed them

She would destroy Evil, no matter how long or how far she had to search

One day, she would find him

She would avenge her sister

She would destroy him

Darkness, never-ending darkness prevailed

Light was but a distant memory

The only song was one of mourning

Echoing continually in the hearts of all.

Years passed, miles melted away

The mountains, the desert, the sea-side cities

She searched them all

Hunting for a glimpse, a hint of Evil

She saw the horror he had created

Families wrenched apart

Children starving in the street

City after city, it was the same.

He had killed, plundered, burned

Atrocities without number he had committed

Each new sight of pain and oppression filled her with rage

Her desire for vengeance increased daily

Her own pain and loss doubled at the suffering she witnessed

Her gifts of healing could only do so much

For twenty years he wandered the world

Helping where she could, showing love to a fallen world

The memory of her sister sustained her

She remembered the boundless love in her sister's heart

The care and comfort she freely gave

The joy and light that filled the valley

For twenty years, until her hair showed signs of gray

Yet she felt young and alive as she administered aid

She did not abandon her quest, however

Though she served and assisted, one thought remained

The desire to avenge those hurt

She sought him continually as she worked

Years passed, miles melted away

The mountains, the desert, the sea-side cities

She searched them all

Hunting for a glimpse, a hint of Evil.

She searched the world over, and found herself near home

At the foot of the mountains wherein her valley lay

The unforgiving peaks of a thousand nightmares

Now harbored the monster she hated

Climbing upward and onward she scaled the cliffs

There, she knew, lay a cave worthy of Evil

Black as his heart, vicious as his soul

It had always been a symbol of horror and misery

This was where He ruled

This was where He had taken her sister

Pain and peril stayed close to her heel as she climbed

The malicious mountain drew monsters of all kinds

The creatures who threatened her were terrifying

Just as terrifying as the face of a starving, crippled child

The face of a mother searching for shelter

The face of a diseased man scavenging for food

All were terrors Evil had spawned

All were horrors he must answer for

Her rage toward the demon gave her strength

One more step

One more step

The mouth of the cave loomed before her

The stench of doom enveloped her

Finally arriving at the goal of her journey, she entered

She had searched the world over, and found herself near home

At the top of the mountain whereby her valley lay

The unforgiving peak of a thousand nightmares

Now harbored the monster she hated

After twenty years of searching she found him on his throne

The darkness and filth were his slaves

The misery and pain of the world was his sustenance

She stood before Evil, and sought her revenge

Twenty years had made him fat, but his power still immense

He laughed at her attempt for vengeance

No mere mortal could withstand him

Power surged through his body, strong and invulnerable

But another power was greater than he

For after twenty years she had found what she searched for

By his throne, but imprisoned

Preserved at his side, untouched by time

Stood her snow-haired sister

Their eyes met, and light shone in her faces

The bond they shred fueled avenging heart

She stood before Evil, raised her sword,

And proclaimed his doom.

He leapt into the air and dove downward

She turned and ducked, slicing at his leg

A sharp hit, but no flesh wound could stop the beast

He laughed and dove again, fiery breath illuminating the cave

Both spun and danced, he flew and he swung

As more fire poured from his mouth

She lifted her sword above her head

The metal reflected the light of the flames

Enhancing it to beyond what he could stand

Blinded, he twisted and fell

As his body raced towards her, she drove the blade upward

Straight through his breast, the fatal stab was made

Wounding him where no one ever could

She pierced his black, misshapen heart

He howled in agony, convulsing on the ground

But after thousands of years of stolen life

He would not die alone

With his dying breath he stretched his poison-tipped tail

Lightning-fast, he punctured her chest

Venom coursed through her veins

As he died, the clouds vanished, all chains broken, light restored

A cheer rose up from all corners of the land

The dark-haired sister had avenged them all

One person, high in the mountains, did not rejoice

The pale-haired girl knelt by her savior, her fallen sister,

Who sacrificed herself to cleanse the world

She wept for the pain in joy

For the eternal bitterness of defeat in victory

After twenty years she had found him on his throne

The darkness and filth were his slaves

The misery and pain of the world was his sustenance

She stood before Evil, and found her revenge

The snow mixed with ebony as she bowed over her sister's body

She sobbed aloud and tears mixed with blood

Hand to hand, heart to heart, they had a bond stronger than death

The sisters of light found each other through love

Huddled on the cave floor she continued to weep

Her mourning cry reaching out into the void

Calling out to her sister, torn away too soon

The strength of love that vanquished horror

Now pulled the dark-haired sister from the cold grasp of Death

He struggled to keep what he claimed as his own

But the bond between their hearts overcame his greed

With a wretched cry, he gave up her soul

The tears of misery glistened in light

As the fallen girl opened her eyes

Pain and sorrow turned to joy in the shining luminance

The light subsided as the two sisters embraced

Bonded by love, they conquered death

The life of one saved the soul of the other

Inseparable even through Death's coveting grip

They returned home young, strong, and free

The snow mixed with ebony as she bowed over her sister

She sobbed aloud and the tears mixed with blood

Hand to hand, heart to heart, they had a bond stronger than death

The sisters of light found each other through love

The bright white moon shone brilliantly

Over the oldest great forest

Nestled amid the mountain range

Isolated by the desert

The oldest forest, where it was said

The fairies of legend still dwelt

Their merry dancing bringing light

To all the people of he land

And still today, tales are told

Of two sisters

One with hair as pale as snow

The other dark as ebony

Who, bonded by love, defeated Evil and Death

They dwell among the fairies

Bringing life and hope to any who stop by their door
