Epilogue

Morgan had insisted that because this was prom night of their senior year together, they should go dress shopping together and get their manicures and hair done together. Everything was always like that but for some reason, Natalie didn't mind.

Natalie loved to hang out with Morgan and do all of the things that best friends did, but she couldn't always do them. She had responsibilities that she couldn't just ignore. Natalie's almost four year old daughter couldn't be left alone for very long without tears. Natalie needed to call her precious Bella between every single school period because Bella worried. To tell the truth, Natalie worried almost as much if not more than Bella did.

So Natalie wasn't really wanted to spend an entire day in the city searching for dresses for the senior prom if she had to leave her daughter behind.

She ended up caving, however and buying a light blue dress that hugged her body in all the right places. It was made of a simple, yet extravagant material that felt like silk in your hands. It was a halter top and Morgan had told Natalie she looked amazing, which she honestly did.

But all in all, she really didn't want to go to prom. She had gone the year before and although it had been a fun experience, she would much rather spend the night with Brandon and Bella or Morgan and Bella. Whenever Bella was invited to be in their group, she had a good time.

She really couldn't bring a child to their prom though.

Natalie was going to the prom with her boyfriend of almost four years, Brandon Honey. They had gotten together shortly after Bella had been born, after Natalie's ex-boyfriend had finally been killed after he had raped Natalie months previous.

She was excited because Brandon and her never got any alone time, but not excited at the same time because she had to leave her precious Bella behind.

The day came and Morgan had dragged her out to get her hair done as well as manicures. "Come on!" she pleaded with Natalie as she tried to get her out the door. "Bella will be fine! Brandon is staying with her and they'll probably spend the whole time playing Go Fish or Old Maid!"

Bella enjoyed Brandon's company a lot and she did enjoy playing both of those games. She had a very good attention span, which was strange for a child of her age.

"It's going to take a long time! We have to drive to the city!" Natalie told her as she protested.

"Please?" Morgan asked, looking up at Natalie with pleading eyes.

She ended up caving, like she always did when Morgan begged. She had already prepared a babysitter for Bella and so she gave her daughter a big hug.

"I'll miss you sweetheart," she said as she squeezed the little girl.

"Me too Mommy!" Bella replied but then went off to play with Brandon more.

"Be good Brandon," Natalie told him. "I'll see you when I get back."

"Bye, Nat," he commented as he brought out the Chutes and Ladders game. "Come on Bells! Let's play this!"

"Yeah!" the little girl replied and so Morgan and Natalie left.

Prom night was supposed to be one of those clichés that ended in most girls getting knocked up in a sleazy hotel room. Brandon and Natalie weren't interested in this cliché. She was more interested in the romance that would follow the night which didn't include sex. Neither of them were interested in this and Brandon knew he couldn't try anything with Natalie. He respected the fact that she didn't want to have sex with him wholeheartedly.

"Wow," Brandon said as Natalie entered the room just minutes before they would leave for prom. "You look amazing!"

"She sure does!" Brandon's mom said as she pushed the two of them together. "Picture time!"

Nancy Honey took about a dozen pictures of the two of them before she picked up Bella and thrust her into Natalie's arms. "Now it's Bella's turn to be in the pictures!"

Nancy took about a dozen more pictures before she was finally satisfied.

"Mommy, you look really pretty!" Bella said as she hugged her mom. "Why do you have the pretty dress on?"

"Mommy's going out to dinner with Brandon and then we're going to a big party," Natalie said as she chose her words carefully. Bella didn't understand the whole 'prom' concept so Natalie chose to leave it at that. "You're going to stay with Grandma Nancy and you're going to have a very fun time! Mommy will see you in the morning."

"Can I come with you?" Bella asked her mom.

"No, this is just something for Brandon and me. It will go way past little Bella's bedtime!"

"Aw," she complained but went with it. "I love you Mommy."

"Love you too, Bells," she said and kissed her daughter on the forehead.

"Ready?" Brandon asked as he linked arms with Natalie and they went out to enjoy the cliché night together.

Brandon and Natalie always had a good time together. If you added Morgan and her date Jake who was Brandon's best friend, they had an even better time. Prom was unexpectedly fun. Morgan and Natalie slipped off to the bathroom about halfway into prom to talk.

"So," Morgan asked looking anxious. "How's the night going?"

"Good, but what are you so anxious about? What's up?"

"I can't tell you!" she exclaimed nervously.

She quickly grabbed Natalie's hand and pulled her out of the room. Natalie knew she was keeping something and planned to get it out of her.

"Come on, Morgan!" Natalie pleaded. "I'm here, so why don't you tell me what you're hiding?"

"I can't do that! I promised!"

"Someone else is involved? What are you and Brandon going to do?"

"Sh," she told Natalie. "Go dance." She pushed Natalie toward Brandon and they began to slow dance.

"Morgan's hiding something from me," Natalie told Brandon. "Any idea what it is?"

"No," Brandon said, keeping his cool but Natalie knew he was involved.

"Come on, tell me!"

"At the end of the night you'll know."

"Fine," Natalie said as she pouted.

At the end of the night, Natalie did find out what it was. It was the last slow dance of the night and Natalie hugged herself to Brandon. "I love you," she muttered.

"I love you too," he told her in her ear.

She loved to hear Brandon say things like that in her ear. He knew exactly how to please her.

He suddenly pulled away from Natalie, kissing her on the cheek as he did so.

"Natalie," he said as he held her hands. "I know you hate clichés like this, but I need to do it." He got down on one knee. "I love you. I also love Bella as a daughter. Would you marry me?"

Natalie felt a tear slide down her cheek and nodded quickly as Brandon picked her up and hugged her.

She knew things would be all right from here on out. There had always been holes in her life as well as Bella's. She knew that these holes would soon be filled by Brandon and they would be alright.

End

A/N: Sappy, boring epilogue. Lol. I had fun writing it though! It was rather hard to pull off because I'm more of a first-person writer.

Review even if you think it was too horrible and sappy!

It's sad that it's over now. I don't know what I'm going to do with my life!
