Seamus O'Malley held the girl's hand as he escorted her to the door of his hotel room in Philadelphia. He had given this yet another attempt, and now he was going to throw in the towel.
Since his encounter with Jordan he'd slept with a different girl in each town. Normally he didn't sleep around this often, nor did he sleep with nothing but girls who would be considered a ten, and rarely black girls. Lately he'd been sleeping with a combination of the two.
Yet since that weekend, he hadn't been able to get the girl, or the mind blowing sex with said girl out of his mind. Now he was doing everything in his power to try to recapture that moment.
After making sure that Leticia had made it to the elevator he went to the bathroom and took a nice long shower.
As he let the water run down his back he came to the conclusion that he would have to call Jordan. He prayed that she would accept his phone calls once he was settled into the downtown loft that he had been looking at on his last visit to the city of Chicago. Even though he didn't want to think about it, he knew he would have to accept the fact that she might not want to associate with him again, after he'd failed to call her when he'd promised.
After stepping out of the shower, he quickly got dressed before he pulled on his glasses, shoes, a hat, and grabbed his wallet. As he grabbed his cell phone from the nightstand he heard a knock at his door.
He briskly walked over and looked out the peephole to find Zade Reynolds standing on the other side.
"Hey man." he greeted after opening the door.
Zade smiled. "Hey, I figured as usual you would be the only other guy up at this unGodly hour of nine o'clock, so I figured I'd ask if you wanted to grab breakfast."
Seamus checked his pocket to make sure the hotel key was there before he closed the door. "Let's roll."
As they waited for their food Seamus only looked at his phone.
"Why are you acting so anxious?" Zade asked.
Seamus shrugged. "I'm not."
"Yea you are. I figured you'd be a bit more relaxed after seeing that little Philly that you took up to your room."
"I can't stop thinking about her." he groaned.
Zade sipped his coffee before he asked. "Who? Chicago Girl?"
"Her name is Jordan." Seamus informed him as he looked at her number in his cell phone.
"I'm sorry. Jordan." The two were quiet in their thoughts for a few minutes before Zade asked. "You could just call her you know."
"She should be in New Zealand right now."
"So does this explain the recent slew of gorgeous black chicks you've been uhm… seeing?"
Seamus shrugged before he accepted the omelet the waitress had presented him with. He watched Zade begin to dig into his French toast.
"It might have something to do with that." Seamus finally confessed. "I don't know why I can't get this girl out of my head. I mean she's not like the other girls I've been with."
"Maybe that's why you're so infatuated with her cause, she's different from the rest."
"I've tried to find other girls like her. I mean these other girls are physically like her, and one of them was actually a law student, but she still wasn't Jordan."
"Uhm yea, probably because she's not this Jordan chick." Zade watched Seamus finally take a bite of his food. "I mean from what you said about this girl she sounds different from any black girl I've ever met, and all the white, Hispanic and Asian girls too. She's just… different."
"You know," Seamus began as he pointed his fork at his friend. "This girl is in school to be a medical examiner?"
"A what?"
"The people who find the cause of death in like murder victims and like that C.S.I. Miami shit."
Zade looked at Seamus sideways before confessing. "That's weird, I didn't think people actually wanted to do that shit."
"Neither did I! But apparently she wants to. And she told me she bought her first pair of heels the day that we met."
His friend laughed. "Now that's just weird. I thought every girl got a pair when they hit puberty. Well at least every girl you've ever been vaguely interested in. Maybe you just need someone whose less of a girly girl."
"She doesn't find heels practical is what she said. Which I find just criminally insane. But I guess if she's a doctor in training and skateboards and whatnot then they wouldn't be very efficient in her daily life."
Zade shook his head before admitting. "I guess."
The two finished their meal before Zade picked up the tab and they headed out to the bustling streets of Philly. They began to head to the skate shop that one of the their fans had mentioned.
As they neared an intersection a tabloid magazine at one of the many newsstands caught Seamus' eye. He quickly scooped up the magazine before he paid the owner and quickly caught up with his friend.
"You actually bought one of those trash mags?"
Seamus grabbed his friend's shoulder before turning him around. "I'm on the cover."
"Really?"
Zade stopped and looked at the cover to see Seamus and the infamous Jordan snogging outside of the bar in Chicago.
As they continued their walk Seamus leafed through the magazine and read the article before he finally looked over the pictures.
He couldn't help but smile as he looked at the pictures, most being of the two hand in hand.
When they walked into the skate shop the boy behind the counter couldn't stop his jaw from dropping. Seamus and Zade watched as the other patrons whispered to one another, about the two famous men who had walked into the store.
"Hey," the worker called. "are you guys here for a signing?"
Zade shook his head. "Nope, we just came to check out the place. Some kid yesterday was hyping the store up so we figured we'd come check it out."
The two buddies began to browse the store and took time to talk to some of the bolder kids who came up to them and asked questions.
One of the girl's that was in the store approached Seamus while he was looking at backpacks.
"Hi Mr. O'Malley."
Seamus looked at the cute teen girl, who had to have been only fourteen before he responded. "Hi beautiful. What's your name?"
"Veronica."
"Well good morning Veronica. How are you today?"
She smiled before she pretended to pout. "I was doing good until I saw you on the cover of a magazine with your new girlfriend. What's up with that Seamus?"
It had been a while since Seamus had felt his face blush so heatedly before he responded. "Well she's not my girlfriend."
"Oh, so it was just like… a weekend booty call."
He frowned, not wanting to have put that thought about Jordan in the girl's head. "Well I wouldn't really say that."
"So what would you say? I mean she's not your girlfriend and she's not a booty call. That doesn't really leave much else."
He smiled, realizing that he should probably end the conversation on the subject. "Well she could just be a really good friend."
"I don't kiss my friends like that."
"Well I hope not sweetie. You're a bit young." he pulled out his marker before he signed the cover of the magazine he held, before handing it to the girl.
Veronica looked it over which read 'Veronica, thanx for the enlightening convo. Love, you're boy, Seamus B.'
"Thank you Mr. O'Malley."
"Thank you Veronica."
He watched the girl walk away and got a sudden urge to wipe his brow, having gotten out of the interrogation.
Ten minutes later the two best friends were finally at the counter purchasing some things when they heard the door open and looked to see another ten or more kids enter the store.
After they had signed things for all the kids inside, they walked out of the store and saw another fifteen or so waiting. So they did the whole signing, photo op thing that they didn't care too much for, but knew their fans adored, before they finally left.
It had been a month since Jordan's last day spent with Seamus O'Malley and today as she sat in her kitchen playing with the cereal in her bowl she thought of what an idiot she had made of herself. She had been so excited about her day with Seamus and had told everyone what a great guy he was and how much she liked him and how he said that he would call her in a week.
Yet after a week had passed she knew that she shouldn't have believed him, because even though he was super nice, famous, rich, and seemed genuinely into her, didn't mean that he wasn't a guy in his early twenties and these thoughts had followed her across the world, to New Zealand. Now she was back home, and miserable yet again.
Jordan's mother, Ann came pounding down the stairs in a mad frenzy. "I'm running late for work."
"You're always running late for work." Jordan told her.
Grabbing her daughter's cheek she kissed her forehead, before grabbing her lunch bag. "And you're always sitting at this table eating cereal. I'd swear you didn't have a job."
"Maybe you should hurry along before you no longer have a job." Jordan yawned. "I just woke up and I'm not even sure what day it is."
"Its Friday."
"Not Saturday?"
"You're still jet lagged?"
Jordan shrugged. "I would hope so."
"You know, I really didn't miss you while you were away." her mother said with a teasing smile.
"I didn't miss you much either." Jordan said with the same smile on her face.
Ann kissed her forehead again. "I really did miss you kiddo."
"Ditto."
Ann began to walk away before she suddenly remembered something. Reaching into the pocket of her lunch bag she grabbed the magazine that was stuffed inside and tossed it to her daughter. "You might want to read that and hope your father doesn't see it in the store. Bye sweetie."
"Bye mum."
Jordan waited until her mother was out of sight before she looked at the cover of the magazine and saw herself and Seamus making out on the night of her birthday outside of the bar. Only the back of Jordan's head was visible, and only a bit of Seamus'. Only someone who knew the girl and her tattoos would know it was her. The cover read "Seamus O'Malley Indulged By Chicago Fling".
Opening the magazine she flipped to the corresponding page and began to read the article. It talked about the two meeting in the bar, how Jordan had gone back to his hotel with him. Then the next day how they had gone out for breakfast and then shopping, then their day at the show.
There were a bunch of pictures of the two and Jordan couldn't help but smile. She had wished, after the no phone call from Seamus, that she had gotten at least one picture with him. But now all she could think of was double dice because their entire weekend together was in a magazine for the world to see.
Jordan continued to stare at the pictures, and was rudely interrupted by her cell phone. Looking at the phone number she quickly flipped it open. "Yo!"
"So you've been back in the country for two days and didn't bother to call your best friend."
Jordan sighed. "I'm sorry I'm extremely jet lagged. It was a sixteen hour flight with a six hour layover in Los Angeles and an hour layover in Denver."
"All of that to hang out with cows, horses and a llama-"
"A Romney ewe." she corrected.
"Whatever animals in another country. Romney ewe are a dork."
"Great, you called just to insult me. Tell me what you want or I'm going back to sleep."
"What are you up to tonight?" Matilda asked.
"I don't know. I'm off this weekend with no plans so I was kind of hoping to go to some kind of bar, some kind of place, and get some kind of drunk."
"And this is exactly why we're best friends. I was calling to see if you wanted to come hang out with me and Katrina this weekend."
"Uhm, fuck yea! I've nothing else to do." Jordan exclaimed. "What time are you planning on leaving?"
Matilda thought for a minute. "I'll leave my house in an hour to come and get you."
"Sounds good."
As the two best friends waited for the brown line train, that would take them up north to Katie's apartment, Jordan's phone began to ring. She looked at the name and number and almost choked on air. Quickly turning to Matilda she blurted…
"Its Seamus what should I do?"
Matilda pretended to gasp before she hit her. "Answer the god damn phone."
Jordan flipped it open, before answering with a casual. "Bueno."
"Uh, is this Jordan." she heard the hottest voice in the universe ask.
"Yes it is, and who might this be?"
With a laugh knowing that she was trying to play it cool he told her. "This would be Seamus O'Malley."
"Oh, hey Seamus, what's up?"
The brown line train arrived and Matilda pulled Jordan onboard and they sat.
As he slipped on his shoes, Seamus told her. "Well, honestly I couldn't stop thinking about you. So I just came back to Chicago, and I was hoping that I would be able to spend some time with you."
"Well I honestly thought you weren't interested in me any longer because I hadn't heard from you in like a month-"
"I know," he interrupted. "I know and I'm sorry. I was really busy and a lot of last minute shows were suddenly available to me so I had to jump on them. Plus I knew you'd be in New Zealand. I really am sorry and I know I could have called you in between but I was honestly nervous."
"Why?"
"Well because you're a real girl."
She frowned. "I kinda hoped you noticed that when we were naked."
"No, I mean you're not like these other girls I'm used to. Your not some bird just trying to get her claws into some rich guy. Your legit and that's kinda scary because I could actually see myself dating you."
Jordan was silent on her end for a few seconds, completely taken back by what he had said. She had honestly set her mind to the thought that he was just going to be a one-night stand; so now hearing this was completely mind-boggling.
"You still there pretty lady?" Seamus asked worried that she might have hung up on him, and he didn't want that.
Nodding her head Jordan told him. "Yea, I'm still here." She took a deep breath before she asked. "You're not fucking with me are you?"
"No. I'm not."
She closed her eyes. "So, what do you want or expect to happen?"
"I actually wanted to know what you were up to tonight. I mean I know its kinda last minute and all, but I would really like to take you out on a date, nice and proper, and I'm not going to expect sex."
Opening her eyes, Jordan told him. "Actually I already have plans for the night."
Matilda smacked Jordan's shoulder and when Jordan looked at her, Matilda told her. "Just go and meet him. I know you want to."
"Shay, hold on for a sec." Jordan moved the phone from her face before she told her friend. "But we haven't hung out in three weeks. No, I'm not ditching you."
Matilda shook her head. "I don't think you'll even be able to keep up with me and Katie anyway, you're still yawning. Just go with Seamus and spend the evening in bed."
"I've done nothing fun in the past three weeks. I miss being social."
"Be social with Seamus." Matilda demanded. "Besides I don't want to hang out with you anymore."
"That's rude and untrue."
Matilda rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Tell Seamus your plans have been cancelled."
Jordan placed the phone back to her ear. "Okay, so my plans have just been cancelled."
"Your not bailing on Matilda are you?"
"No of course not. She told me to bail on her. So uhm… where do you want to meet?"
Seamus thought for about a minute before admitting. "I don't really know this city so, you tell me."
"Where are you now?"
"Same hotel as before."
"I'll meet you there."
When Jordan got to the hotel room she knocked on the door and Seamus answered with a huge grin. He reached into the hallway and wrapped his arms around her. Pulling her close to himself he nuzzled her neck and smelled her. Then looking into her eyes he whispered. "You know your beautiful, right?"
Jordan only blushed and shrugged away from him. "Meh." then looking him in the eyes she asked. "How many times are you going to ask me that?"
"Until I get the answer that I want."
"What would that be?"
Kissing her plump lips he told her. "Its not meant to be a trick question. The answer is yes you ridiculously silly girl."
Seamus then pulled her into the room and asked her if she would mind waiting while he finished getting ready. He hadn't been expecting her there so soon. Jordan looked him over and thought he looked fine. His usually high red Mohawk was down and he wore a pair of black square framed glasses over his green eyes. His Famous Stars and Straps shirt just brushed across the top waistband of his gray Dickie pants, that half covered his Vans shoes.
Jordan told him that he looked great the way he was and he only smirked at her saying that he couldn't go out the way he was dressed while she looked so gorgeous. Shaking her head as she looked at herself across the mirror Jordan didn't see what he saw.
All she saw was a black girl who had spent her entire life in the suburbs. Her pink Element shirt was kind of tight across her breasts which she admitted were quite big, and her khaki pleated skirt hugged her butt in a very flattering manner, which she thought just made her look fat. Her light brown shoulder length hair was curled. She too wore Vans sneakers and black square framed glasses, over her dull brown eyes, giving the green contacts a break.
So they both agreed that the other looked great and decided to just hit the town in what they were wearing.
Jordan dragged Seamus from the hotel back to the train and when Seamus asked where they were going she shook her head and told him to be patient. When they made it to their destination Jordan pulled him down the street to her and Matilda's favorite restaurant.
The two were given odd looks, probably because they were young, dressed like skater punks and he was white and her black, but the two ignored the looks. Jordan asked if they could be seated outside and once they were, Seamus could only look around them. He was completely amazed by the fact that they were sitting at a table on the sidewalk of downtown Chicago and he tried to take in the sights of the many building and the traffic coming down the street.
They ordered a bottle of wine and the bottle was gone before their food arrived. Once it did come they chatted and ate and went through another bottle. When the waitress asked if they wanted dessert Jordan declined but Seamus gave her a kiss, before telling the waitress that they would share a serving of tiramisu.
When the check came Jordan reached for it and Seamus smacked her hand away telling her that he had invited her, therefore he would pay. They sat and chatted for a while before Jordan suggested they take a walk to Millennium Park.
Again Seamus was mesmerized. He stared at the giant bean and pulled Jordan inside where she made him stare straight up into the middle of it and spin around. When he stopped Jordan pulled the dizzy man out and made him walk over to the fountain. Seamus only looked at the two tall towers that showed different pictures every so often as water cascaded down the sides. He talked Jordan into playing in the water and they did.
When the screens changed into faces Jordan told Seamus where to stand and when she began to walk away she told him that she had seen this show before and that this was the best place to watch. So Seamus watched as the face in front of him began to smile and was completely shocked when it started to spit out a huge jet of water that hit him directly in the face.
He looked over to Jordan and saw her laughing hysterically. So he quickly ran over to her, wrapped his arms around her waist and carried her into the jet. Jordan fought in his arms as the two became soaked and they both laughed with glee, along with all the little kids.
When the water finally stopped Seamus continued to laugh as Jordan pouted pretending to be upset and Seamus only kissed her lips tenderly, with a huge grin.
"You are so wicked."
"And you like it." she told him before kissing his lips more.
Seamus carried her out of the water before he set her back down to her feet, and once he did he began to stare into her eyes.
"What's up?" she asked.
He shook his head before grabbing her hands. "I think I want to make us official."
Looking at him sideways she asked. "What do you mean? We've only really been on this date that we're currently on, and the first time we met we just fucked."
"Actually I consider this to be the second date. Cause after that time when we 'just fucked', we did get breakfast that morning and spent the remainder of the day shopping. Plus we had that entire day together at the show."
Jordan couldn't stop her gigantic smile, but tried to cover it with her hands. "You're joking right?" She watched him shake his head. "But how is this going to work out, with you up in Michigan and me in Illinois? Are we going to do a long distance relationship and just visit each other like every other weekend or something?"
"Nope," he told her. "I really like Chicago, it's a lot better than where I am now in Michigan, and when I was down here that first time we met I was actually looking for a place to buy."
Uncovering her mouth she asked. "So you're moving down here?" he nodded. "When?"
"Whenever I'm approved for this loft that I really, really want."
Wrapping her arms around his neck Jordan told him. "Well I really, really hope you get it."
With a smile Seamus asked. "Why is that?"
"Well, It would be nice to have my boyfriend living in the same state as me."
Smirking Seamus asked. "Oh, you never told me you had a boyfriend."
Jordan grabbed his face and kissed his lips softly. "You are so effing adorable."
"Did you just say effing?"
"I did say effing'."
"That's cute."
