WHEN OLLIE RAN AWAY
Written : April 5 2008

OLLIE THE DOG SAID:

"Must get out!
Must break free!
There is a large world out there with weird things... like those... err... things!

Freedom!"

Kimi opens the gate and Ollie runs out like crazy

"I must get... well, somewhere. Wow! That's a huge rat hole (it's actually the sewer). "

sniff sniff

"There a big turn... (the street corner)"

"Oh wow! That's a big monster! And it's got huge eyes!
Hmm... I'll run towards it! Arf Arf!"

(Gaah, it's a green car... and he's running towards it)

Car slows down

"Hahahahha, I scared that monster alright!

Wait, I can here my mommy Kimi calling me."

Ollie looks back seeing Kimi running after him

"Aha! She wants to play at this very wide playground huh!
I'll run faster!

Oh!"

Ollie stops and hears another bark from inside a small gate
He turns around and sniffs

KIMI SAID:

"GOT YA!"

About 20 Minutes Earlier

My baby Ollie got out our yard!

Well, our house is enclosed in a wall and a gate. That encloses our yard as well. Like most houses here in the Philippines, it is very different from the Western setting. Unless you live in a flat, a high rise apartment/condo, or the farm, you would probably find yourself in the common residential area where houses both big and small has fences or walls that separate each property.

This way, no one trespasses. At the same time, your dogs won't get lost and protects them from very mean people who kill and hurt animals (I hate them so much! One of my neighbors shoots stray dogs and even your dog if ever he gets out). That was one things that I'm very thankful. We have a fairly spacious yard that allows our baby dogs to run around... I don't walk them out because I don't really have time. Besides, they have no interest in the outside world.

OR SO I THOUGHT!

It's happened before, Ollie gets out but I got him before he could run.

This time, he runs fast! Really fast! So wearing my super short shorts and my over sized shirt and my boyfriend's leather sandals, I ran out chasing him and screaming "OLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE". Then my brother saw me and I exchanged slippers with him so I could now run fast with flipflops.

I took a sharp turn around the corner to find Ollie running towards a green car. WAS HE FREAKING OUT OF HIS MIND! Many stray dogs here survive that cuz they move aside but I think Ollie was up for a fight. Thankfully I was also running in the middle of the street some five meters away from Ollie that the car slowed down.

I kept screaming and Ollie thought I was playing with him so he kept running like crazy. He has no idea how exhausted I was! Then a bark came out of another gate so he stopped and sniffed the gate.

GOT YA!

Hahahhaha... After the chase I finally get my hands on Ollie.
I carried my medium sized mutt but he was really heavy. Halfway I had to sit down and hug him so he wouldn't run again. Then my brother Bobby helped me carry him until we got home.

Yes kids! I carried my dog home and people were all smiling when they walked pass by me.

Oh my baby!

One lesson, let them explore!
Next week I would buy both my baby dogs a leash and give them a walk. At least, they wouldn't run towards cars next time.
