My Shimmering Doubts
by: Sarah McB
I do not know how true my love is dear.
You don't know what to me is cruelly said.
It isn't words that draw my heart to fear
I'm just afraid of what's inside my head.
The words that they say do not bother me,
But thoughts come to me scattered and broken.
They install in me a fear we can't be,
And leave me brimming with tears that glisten.
A heart in love is a perilous thing,
My stomach's in knots as I wait for him.
A whole host of doubtful persons baying
that my feelings are just a passing whim.
Dancing with this emotional devil
All I know is he's my bashful angel.
