Uncertainty

She finds him waiting up as usual,
Still a bit unsure of why,
But she's learned not to question it now,
Because she really does know deep down,
And she knows that the pattern will continue,
Every night, for as long as she wants.

She asks him what it is that he wants,
"You, of course," an expected response, as usual,
And if asked again, he would continue
like a parrot, spouting that same answer, and asking her why
she had asked, and she would try not to look down,
Not wanting him to think she was wavering now.

No, not now,
That's definitely not what she wants,
So determined not to look down,
He picks up that something is unusual,
And so he does ask why,
But she won't let the pattern continue.

However, the silence does continue
until she breaks it now,
"I'm just not always sure, that's why,"
She speaks something other than what he wants
to hear, immediately he starts to reassure her, as usual,
And she gives in, looking down.

In response, he too looks down,
She looks up to continue,
"Just wait until I'm back to usual,
Because I really do know…it's just now…"
He nods, a reaction she wants,
But still he wonders why.

"I hate this…I don't know why
I ever doubt us," she sits down,
She knows what she wants, what they both want,
For the dreary subject to be discontinued,
Which it seems to be diminishing now,
They both hope everything can go back to usual.

Why did it have to happen, especially now?
Luckily, as usual, they didn't let her doubts continue,
So until then she's waiting for the doubts to vanish, for what she wants to go down.

Author's Note-
Basically this poem is called a Sestina. It follows a specific form... I don't like the last line, but I couldn't figure out what else fit the format. The format involves the last word of each line. It must be reused in a specific pattern in each stanza following it. Also, in the last stanza, you must use all six of the last words, 2 per line, each line ending with one of them. A little confusing, but I found it pretty fun. I wrote this poem for my creative writing class.
