A/N: Haze- Her rents and friends all think she's dead (16 year old girl disappearing in London at the middle of the night) she was in like a single student program that gives kids housing cheap. I'll explain more later. Working on the whole he said she said thing. Thanks for reviewing. Sorry I know that last part may have been a bit confusing near the end.
My Atomic Garden- You'll get to know if you keep reading. (And reviewing) Cough.
Kibigal- I know I suck at apostrophes, and apparently my beta, Ruff does too. Thank for the review. Finally, I looked at the live preview and I didn't see any huge spaces. Sorry it's probably my fault but I don't know how to fix it.
Also I noticed that in Chapter 5 when the lecturer said, "Nice to notice they're picking for brains these days she meant that, the vampires were turning people for looks not brains. This is hypocritical because well she's a ho. Hope that cleared that up.
-TheYearOfTheBlueMoon-
She was trailing behind me as if I was a live grenade waiting to detonate. You didn't have to read her mind to know that she was scared of me. I'm gonna have to do something about this. I'm tired of people being scared of me.
-TheYearOfTheBlueMoon-
"Go on in," Darius encouraged. "They're not going to bite." He laughed at his own cheesy joke.
Seeing that neither Bianca nor Scarlett had moved an inch, he not so gently shoved them in. It was a large rectangular room with an equally large rectangular table.
Aside from the chairs there was no other furniture in the room and only one large window. They stood directly behind what was obviously the head of the table. The only empty seat was to the direct right of the head of the table. To the left of the main seat was none other than Carolina. Although Scarlett had never seen the 'Contessa' before her posture, and the fact that she glared at Bianca, would have tipped anyone off. Suddenly ten pairs of glowing red eyes were all fixated on the two.
Ten turned to eleven when the head of the table turned around slowly. Before she could even see his face he was talking.
"Scarlett, you've had quite an exciting day today, beating the crap out of a second level before nine. I do believe that's a record for any fledgling." The unmistakable voice of her master said.
Darius then stepped into the room himself and sat in the second in command chair that was obviously his.
"Yeah, definitely a record. Of course me and you…"
Darius trailed off and it became apparent that he finished the sentence mentally when He and Dracula both suddenly burst out laughing at the exact same time. Most of the adults in the room didn't seem surprised but some, the newer ones, were shocked at the sound coming out of their permanently fanged mouths.
"Darius get out of here, you have a lecture to finish, and I shudder to think of what those fledglings are doing on their own." Dracula ordered in a big-brother kind of way.
Without missing a beat her master turned toward Carolina, "Lina, would you mind if we kept our fledglings here for today? I'm sure they won't miss anything."
She smiled sweetly at him before replying, "A great idea, Vlad. It will be good for them to see the council that they will one day be joining."
Carolina snapped her fingers regally, "Fetch our guest", She looked at Scarlett. "A chair will you?"
Scarlett looked at her master questioningly. Sensing her confusion he intervened. "Scarlett, make yourself at home in Darius' chair."
'Hey she's only been here a week and she's already replacing me!?'
Not used to anyone but her master in her head Scarlett flinched. She looked around to see any signs of reactions on the others faces. The only condolence she found was in Bianca, who looked equally perplexed.
She hadn't looked at the head seat to her left since she sat down. All she could think of was all of the terrible stories some of the lecturers told. They would smile and cheer as they told of his days as "Vlad the Impaler" or his most famous tale of how he slimly defeated Van Hellsing. Some of the older ones would re-tell first hand experiences of watching him kill higher level vampires that dared challenge him like they were rag dolls.
They always started the ballads the same way, "Back in the old days", or "When he was younger".
They always spoke of him as if he was a frail old legend, and as if the monster he used to be was gone, only a mere shadow of his former glory.
It did not bother Scarlett to hear the stories than, but now that she knew him face to face they scared her. How was she supposed to live with a man who has killed thousands? Or sleep knowing he's right across the hall, or in her veins, even her mind?
She was so immersed in her thoughts she noticed nothing until she felt him grab her arm.
"Scarlett, answer the question," he told her gently.
Trying to stop the trembling that had overcome her body from reaching her voice she answered quietly, "I'm sorry I was a little out of it, would you come again?"
She looked in her lap the whole time since she had no idea who asked her.
A woman who Scarlett did not know asked her how she was adjusting. To scared to lie she told the truth thankful for the hand that left her arm.
"I was doing fine." She said and realized her voice sounded shaky to her own ears.
She nervously glanced to her left at the head chair; he had a black eyebrow raised in her direction and red eyes studying her.
He appeared to be the only one in the room to notice her past tense. He called the meeting short as it had stopped all usefulness and turned to plain gossip.
He cleared his throat and all attention immediately turned to him.
"I grow tired of this", Dracula stated, "We will continue tomorrow at 8:00, Good morning."
He stood to leave while everyone else remained seated. Including Scarlett. He had to pick her up by her arm and half drag her out she was so scared of what she was about to do.
When they turned down a deserted hallway he bombarded her, with questions. "What's wrong with you, Scarlett?" "Why are you so scared," "Tell me or I'll find out."
She shakily said, "I don't wanna be yours any- anymore. Tell me how to emancipate myself."
He laughed and explained to her shivering self that she was too young. Scarlett stayed stubborn. D decided to take a different route.
"You remember how I made you?" He asked seductively as he pushed her once again up against a wall. "Yes" She managed to stammer out. "If we do it again you'll be emancipated. Is that what you want?" "N-No" She somehow spat out from the mush her brain had turned to in the close proximity. "No what?" "No Master.
"Than you want to stay with me?" He asked arms on either side of hers.
"I don't want to be alone." She managed to say, on the brink of tears.
He felt bad for her he really did, but she was dead set on leaving and she was just too young. He picked her up and took her back to the room.
Scarlett was still shaking with fear. But it was not her master who scared her now. It was the thought that it was only him, a monster, which kept her from her worst fear, being alone.
A; N-Hope the spacing was ok on this one. Didn't particularly care for this chapter which is why it took so long to get up. To make up for the extra 2 days I'll give you another teaser. Just occurred to me. Leave it in a review or PM me if you don't like the teasers. I could see how they would annoy some people. Have a nice night. Please review MagicMari.
"Just, stay please." She looked up at him with pleading eyes.
His eyes flickered around her room. Not trusting himself to lie in the bed wither he grabbed an arm chair and put it next to her bed.
"Ok?" He asked only pretending to be annoyed.
"Perfect", she replied already half asleep
He sighed and hoped she wouldn't make this a habit.
