Valentine

Today I miss your hair, your eyes, your mind,

your height, your ribs, your muscled legs, your skin

your long, strong hands that stroked heat down my spine.

Your under-lashes glance, and its shy smile

I miss, because I knew what lay within.

Today I miss your hair, your eyes, your mind.

Your gazes stole my breath like secret wine,

enticing me to reach with palms open

your long strong hands that stroked heat down my spine.

I thought I'd stumbled on someone divine

but knew we'd lead each other into sin.

Today I miss your hair, your eyes, your mind

and the way that it with mine so well aligned,

that we shared thoughts and sentences like twins.

But long strong hands that stroked heat down my spine

eventually forgot my feel, and turned to wine

as substitute. And so I would begin

to miss your long dark hair, your eyes, your mind,

your long hands stroking roughness into fine.
