Prologue
One of the greatest rulers to have ever risen to power is Serafin Arvillion. A legendary figure, he has been likened to a god by the children in Litherrian. He ruled Litherrian wisely, using its resources fully and organizing an army that had been invincible. Some claimed he was immaculate, while some claimed he was a wild card. The children and folktales claimed that he was a magician, full of tricks and curses. As all who have had the honor of meeting him are dead, no one had any clue as to which is the truth. He had made Litherrian the powerful and vast empire it currently is, and is famous for it.
Tragically, even he had to die. However, no records of how he died have been found, and Litherrian has been uncooperative in the search for enlightenment on his death.
Information on his life is scant. Litherrian had hidden her greatest ruler behind her powerful cloak, hiding his life away from prying eyes. However, Litherrian had finally gathered up the courage to reveal her ruler's shadowy past, and in the process, she revealed the only magic the supposed sorcerer-ruler ever possessed: a girl.
Her name was Cassandra Trille, and she was an innkeeper's daughter. Uncanny, isn't it, that such a powerful man who could have anyone he desired chose her...
Litherrian royalty promised to hand over all records of the great ruler and Cassandra as well. This is their story, pieced together from various records and events. This will attempt to bring them into the light, give an insight to the ruler's darker side and explain the eventual downward spiral of the ruler.
Hopefully, this will leave no stone unturned. Litherrian has done all she could for her ruler. Although she could never pay Serafin back for the good he did the kingdom, Litherrian can no longer keep him the same untainted saint he was thought to be. After all, every lie eventually crumbles down. It's time for the world to know the truth. This is Cassandra Trille's story, and in effect, Serafin Arvillion's as well. A story of politics, cruelty, insanity and most of all, love.
Author's note: I know it's short, but it's only a prologue.
