I showed him to the bathroom and he slowly walked in. I walked to the freezer and pulled out a carton of ice cream. I grabbed a spoon and sat down on a stool.

"You're the girl that is freaking Cathy out," he whispered in my ear. I jumped and dropped my spoon. I looked at his smirk and his blue eyes and shook my head as I picked up the spoon.

"You living here alone"

"Yeah" I said as I dropped the spoon in the sink and put the ice cream back.

"That's pretty cool, I actually live a couple of house down from here," he said as he looked around the kitchen.

"That's nice," I said not caring.

"I'm Leland, by the way" he said as he looked at me.

"I'm Zara" I said back

"That's a pretty cool name, what does it mean"

"It means light," I said

"That's cool, well I should get going Cathy's probably looking for me." He walked out the back door and opened the fence taking one last look at me before leaving. I turned off the light and walked up the stairs confused. Why I felt confused I had no idea. I lay down on my bed and slowly closed my eyes.

I got up once the sun came up I put a pair of running shorts and a tank top on. I tied up my running shoes and walked out side with my keys in my hand. I stretched and began to run. I run with out stopping, I ran until I couldn't breath, until every thought of my father and mother left my mind. I stopped and the tears just kept coming, I began to wipe them away and when that didn't work I run toward the beach and fell down on the soft cold sand.

"Zara" I didn't look up

"What are you doing"?

"I was running"

"Are you okay"?

"I'm fine Cathy," I said as I got up

"You don't look fine"

"Well I am" I said as I stared at her perfect little face.

"Well" Cathy whispered

"Cathy, Come on you have to be home before your mother wakes up" I turned around and saw Leland sitting inside a blue BMW.

"I have to go," she said as she run toward the car.

They drove away and I was left there feeling alone and empty. I looked back at the water, would it be so cold that it could numb my body or would it do nothing. I turned around shaking my head and ran back toward the house. I finally made it home I walked up the steps without looking at the couple sitting inside the blue car. I put my key inside the keyhole and turned the knob when he called out for me.

"Hey, Brown eyes can I use your bathroom" I turned around and found that Cathy was no longer with him.

"Do you have a bladder problem" he smirked
"No" he said as he walked up the steps. I sighed and went inside.

He followed and as he walked into the bathroom I walked up the stairs and into the attic, which was my workshop. I left the stairs down, I walked by the window took out my brushes and began to paint. Then I heard his footsteps I put the brush down and walked back to the stairs, he was right there and I pushed him back.

"You can't come up here," I said as I walked him back to the hallway

"Why not"

"Because this is my house and you can't go up there," I said as I put the stairs up. He shrugged his shoulder and was walking away when he stopped. He was looking at his shirt as he turned around I closed my eyes and shook my head.

"You paint" he said as he looked at the blue paint spot on his shirt.

"Yeah" I said as I looked up at his blue eyes that just stared right at me. He began to smile

"That's really great, you think you can paint me," he said, as he got closer to me.

"I don't know. Maybe" I said as I walked around him and down the stairs.

"That's cool, so what are your plans for today"

"I'm not sure yet" I said as I stood by the door.

"Well I would ask you to hang out, but I have to work," he said as he walked to the door.

"Bye" he turned around

"We should hang out after. Around midnight a bunch of us get out of work and hang out by the beach you should come. Meet people" he said with a smile.

"Maybe" I said with a small smile.

"Bye" he said as he closed the door behind him.

After he left I lay down on the couch and closed my eyes I counted to ten and drifted off to sleep and all I could see were his blue eyes.
