Soles of Starlight

The wacky shoes of my childhood

Pink cloth with a thick white band

That held within the globe of red light

Flashing as I walked

Begging and pleading

Made them mine

A step and a flash

A firefly controlled by will

Skipping on the light

Of young and careless innocence

The silly starlit shoes

Danced me through my youth.

Message to the reader: As stated in the summary, this was written in Creative Writing in very little time and has not yet been edited. I'm basically just looking for a response because I'm not used to writing on such short notice with such a limited amount of time and wonder what people will have to say about it. Plus, we will start having to read our un-edited poems to the class soon, so I'm a bit worried about that.
