Xavier's POV
She kept "staring" at me like I was growing two heads. I mean, I would've have known she was blind until she told me… in a rather ungraceful way I might add.
Now that you think about it, I become aware of her milky eyes which would've been a stunning shade of green if she wasn't blind... and her face wouldn't look as bad if she just calmed down a little bit. In fact, the wind making her wavy jet black hair blow in her face might've made her look serene and attractive.
I can also tell she's part Asian judging by her tan skin and her slightly slant eyes which is not wholly noticeable.
"So just because your name is Xavier Wellington, it gives you a right to abuse people?!"
Damn. Little miss 5"4 can be loud. She should tone down a little if she doesn't want people within a 10 mile radius to hear her.
"Wait," her face changed in recognition, "Weren't you the guy in the restaurant? The-the uhhh…"
"Like I said earlier, Xavier Wellington," I answered for her.
"Whatever," she scoffed and her husky led her back to the swing.
"So what can I do to pay you back?" I sat on the other swing so I could talk to her and be civilized.
Looking at this interesting thing beside me, I saw her inhaling deeply through her small button nose while closing her eyes at the same time. She started kicking the ground with her legs and the swing started to swing back and forth.
"You don't have to do anything, I just want to be alone and in peace for the moment," opening her eyes in my direction to inform me.
Woah… how'd she know I was sitting right here?
Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to ask her that because she interrupted me, "Why were they chasing you anyways?"
"Oh", my face grimaced. I started to rock my swing too to make myself comfortable. "Well probably so I could be their little rich boyfriend, hoping I'll spoil them. Or so they could have their 15 minutes of fame."
Instead of pity like I thought I was going to get, she started guffawing like crazy. Trying to hold her stomach, I started to smile as well. It's not my fault her laugh is so contagious.
"Wow," she said between her laughter, "I hate girls like those, I feel so sorry for you. Even though I don't know why they would want you to be their little sugar daddy, I still feel sorry."
Surprisingly, I didn't mind her insult.
"You're not so bad Xavier, even though you're an arrogant ass." The girl said as she stopped laughing, although that infectious smile is there.
I smiled back and said, "First I'm not an arrogant ass whatsoever, and you're not so bad shorty." Hoping that will get her riled up.
Apparently it did because she stood up abruptly and demanded that her husky provide the trail to me.
Her husky began walking and started barking. I didn't know that saying that will get her annoy her that much. But her scrunched up nose and that little pout is worth it all.
Laughing again, I stood up as well. Standing in front of me, I realized my 6"1 and her 5"4 height difference was evident.
She raises her index finger and attempted to poke me hard on the chest. She probably didn't know I was that tall because she poked me on my stomach instead. I chuckled again and she covered her surprise quickly and poked me on my chest for real this time. Opening her mouth, I knew she was going to give me a little lecture but fortunately her cell started to ring, saving me.
Do you hear me, Boy I hear you in my dreams I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
"Hello?" she picked up.
I backed away so I could give her privacy.
Her face lit up when she found out who was calling.
"Charlie! Hey girl, what's up? You're gonna be here in 30 seconds?" She started to giggle and went to face the opposite way.
I peeked above her head with my curiosity and indeed I see a blonde walking our way.
When she was halfway to our destination, I knew she saw me by her incredulous face she was making.
Charlie was hesitant, I can tell, and slowed down. Comprehending that it really is me, her whole body movement changed from doubtful to thrill.
She started to run and shoved her best friend gently, making the blind girl exclaim in shock.
Wow. Isn't she just a wonderful best friend?
Now Charlie is eyeing me up and down and it's making me a little conscious. Next thing I know, a big squeal came out of nowhere out of this 5"6' girl, and I had to step back.
"Charlie! Hold yourself woman, it's just a billionaire." The blind girl (I still don't know her name) said sarcastically while trying to pull Charlie out of my breathing space.
"How do you know this holy man? I wish you could see him right now. God he's so gorgeous." Charlie kept rattling on and on to her and after a few minutes, the girl had calmed her best friend down.
"I'm so sorry for Charlie's nuisance Xavier; we'll be going now so we could stop bothering you." She talked to me at last.
What? I don't want her to go. Damn it. I should ask her name before I can't see her again.
"But Jade, I just got here!" her best friend whined.
"Charlie no, we have to uh go shopping remember?"
"But you hate shopping, so stop making excuses Jade Riley Winston!"
Jade Winston huh? I'll be sure to remember that.
Jade glared at Charlie and it shut her up.
"We're going now, nice to meet you Xavier." She "gazed" in my direction and then started walking out of the park with her husky leading the way and with her dejected best friend in tow.
"Bye shorty!"
Jade glowered back and causing me to laugh for the hundredth time today.
Guess I couldn't help myself.
Sorry if this was a long chapter guys. But I hope that you'll like this chapter like you did with the first one. Also, I don't know anything about being blind or blind people, so forgive me if there's anything unusual that Jade does. The insignias on the socks I got from the movie Ray so it would be cool if someone fill me in on how they really do.
