Jason's Side of the story:
Jason sighed as he opened the door, persistent buggers they were. he stood in the door way with his arms crossed over his chest looking at the suit clad gentleman before him.
"Ah yes. Mr...uh...Mr Harrison",he said with a nod his posture relaxing a bit but he still didn't like the looks of this and definitely didn't like the sounds of strangers on his farm. As the guy left being the nice guy Jason could be...sometimes, he picked up the case and took it into the house into a small bedroom that was painted a coral pink. it had been his sister's growing up, the shelves were packed full with champion trophies, there were two beauty sashes hung on the mirror that was behind the dresser which had a picture of the girl barrel racing, Jenny had now went to Cali with her now husband.
The bed was white, a stereo sat in the corner and a tower full of old country and punk Cd's. the closet was empty with the exception of a dusty, brand new looking trophy saddle with silver plates accenting it and the side had the words "2002 World Champion Aged Reiner". There was a box of pictures that Gary had pulled off the walls and such on the floor in the closet, it was quite large considering it was nearly the same size as the room. Mr. Allen came in introducing himself and his son. he then pulled a pair of boots out of the closet.
"accordin' to your dad these shud fit",his southern accent was strong and he wasn't as old looking as her father was, stress does that to you after all. Jason headed off once introduced as Mr. Allen showed her around he let her meet Dawson and Dave who were the resident geldings, both of which who were champions in their day, one was his the other had been his daughters, both were retired now and spent their days standing at the gate greeting people.
Shep stood off a ways watching her growling. when Mr. Allen seen Shep he told the dog to he slipped into the barn through the doggy door in one of the doors. As they toured the barn's many stalls meeting some of the babies, the stud, General Lee then went to see Bea (pronounced 'B') and Jason stood up from checking her leg. he let out a huff and ignored Alex. "dad I need you're help with the steers, I just put stitches in Bea's leg and she can't be doin that stuff. I can get Mory and Lilly tacked up. the tenderfoot can watch",he said making his first acknowledgement of Alex. Shep exited the stall with Jason it was obvious who's dog he was. Once the horses were saddled up Jason headed out back leaving her to stand at the back door so she was out of the way. Jason rode a golden horse with white splotches over its face and body. Mr. Allen rode a Jet black horse with 4 white markings on his legs and a white splotch covering his face making his eyes blue. You could see the two circle the herd of cattle bunching them up and running them into the pen with a loud thundering of hooves and a thick blanket of dust that made the ground quiver and shake like an earthquake.
They locked the loud smelly animals and took care of thier horses wiping them down and putting the tack away before Jason returned the horses to where they belonged. Then Jason came along and said it was best she got started right away and handed her an old cloth and a jug of neatsfoot oil to rub the tack down with. If any got on her clothes they would be stained for good.
Alex's Side of the Story:
When Alex saw Jason wander in with her stuff she sighed and huffed not sure if she should turn and make a run or for once do what she was supposed to. She rolled her eyes and looked up at the blue skies, skies that were not cluttered with towering buildings and sky scrappers...she was already homesick. She finally decided to step in, at least to see what it was like. If she wanted to run, she had plenty of time. She walked up the steps just in time to see Jason set her luggage down, but just as she stepped in Mr. Allen was there greeting her and introducing her to his son.
It was like a quick whorl wind, she didn't even remember stopping to take off her heels and replace them with REAL boots. Mr. Allen was nice, but this place was cramping her style, it wasn't big enough, it was too...
Her house wasn't filled with pictures of family like this, it wasn't... She couldn't find the word because she'd never been able to use it before, hadn't even had time to consider something like "home" in a real house. The one she lived at wasn't a home, but it was spacey, and she liked space. The room she saw before was as big as her old closet, that was what made the whole deal sad.
She sighed though as he took her outside to take her to meet some of their more magnificent beasts. Horses were pretty. Its a good thing she knew horses at least, or how to ride them, her father forced her to take lessons when she was younger. It'd been a long time since then, however. She felt like taking a bath though, being around all this dirt, she could feel just a coat of it gritting up her skin, and the smell... She avoided thinking about it so she wouldn't gag so much. The sound of the dog growling made her jump, the horses got a little skittish at her own skittish behavior. She should've known it was Jason's dog though, bastard.
She'd taken an honest dislike to him already, especially when she heard him call her SHE. That wasn't her name it was, Alexandria Templas Harrison III. And then all of a sudden they were off riding the horses while she was left back here to do nothing. "Stupid ass cowboy man." She cursed, not giving him the benefit of calling him by name as well. She just turned to one of the horses and let her hand out, when it didn't shy away or bite her she reached out and patted his soft long face.
After a time of paying attention to the thing when they finally came back she was already bored. She was just about to leave until stupid cowboy man came around and gave her an old raggedy cloth. She just dropped it making a little whining sound in the back of her throat, "Gross." It was all grimy looking and overused. "Do it yourself." She said so uppity, one would think she needed a crown on top of her head.
