So, here's my new story, One Side, and hope you enjoy it. Also, please read and review. ;D
They strolled through the beach, talking and giggling about their summer. The girl looked up at the guy, with a twinkle in her eyes. His messy, dark brown hair was flying everywhere because of the wind. She couldn't help but giggle. He grinned and sat down on the towel when they finished walking. She sat down too.
"I can't believe school's starting tomorrow." He sighed and fell back on the towel.
"Yeah, me too. Well, it's been a great summer, Derrick." The girl smiled and looked at him.
"It has, hasn't it, Amber?" Derrick smirked.
"Yeah." Amber sighed and went into a deep thought.
Amber and Derrick were both on the Wendale High soccer team, so that's how they met. Derrick was the star soccer player. They started practicing together during the summer and they've been hanging around each other a lot. Amber has had a crush on him since they've been hanging out. She knew that he would never return her feelings, but she'll keep trying. They were in different 'social groups' anyways. He was with the 'populars' while she was just the plain girl. But, that didn't matter. He was neither stuck-up, nor arrogant.
"Earth to Amber?" Derrick was waving his hand back and forth across her face.
She snapped back into reality and said, "Oh, sorry. I spaced out." She laughed nervously.
He laughed, "It's okay. I do that a lot too."
Amber gazed at the open sea and sighed. This was probably the best part of her summer. It was perfect. Without thinking, she laid her head down on Derrick's shoulder. He didn't mind though.
"What do you think was the best part of your summer?" Derrick whispered.
Amber blushed and she knew she couldn't tell Derrick that this was the best part. "Um, playing soccer with you, I guess." She lied.
"Really?" He looked at her and she thought for a moment that there was a bit of sadness in his voice.
"Um, I guess…" Amber looked away and blushed.
"Oh." Was the only thing he said.
Amber wanted to tell him so bad, but she just couldn't. She sighed and went back to looking at the sea. The sun was setting and that meant her summer was almost over. Hanging with Derrick, laughing and doing retarded things with her best friend Krista, and playing soccer with Derrick… It was all over. A tear escaped from her eye and it slowly fell down her cheek. A thumb wiped it away and Amber averted her gaze to Derrick. He was looking at her with a sympathetic smile.
"What's wrong?" He whispered.
"I'm just…sad that summer's over and school's starting again…" She partly lied. Amber was sad that summer was over, but she was also sad that there would never be a moment like this ever again.
"I know. He have to go back to that hell of a school," He sighed while Amber giggled.
"Yeah…" She said, barely a whisper.
Derrick shifted through his position to sit with his legs crossed, and that startled Amber, so she jumped.
"Sorry." He laughed.
She teasingly glared at him. "You scared the shit out of me!" Amber exclaimed while sitting back down.
"Sorry." Derrick's repeated through laughs.
Amber rolled her eyes and rested her chin on her hands. The sun was slowly disappearing and this was the moment she was dreading. Her summer was over. The best summer ever…
"Well, we should be getting back." Derrick said while standing back up.
"Yeah, we should." Amber stood up too.
They quietly walked to Derrick's car. Amber looked at him one more time and let out a tear. He didn't seem to notice though. They arrived at the car and neither of them knew what was in store for them for their senior year.
