Inside, there is a perplexity
A sense of something missing
Something withheld, something denied
Knowledge trapped within

A butterfly battering its wings
Against the glass of its confinement (against a glass jar)
So desperate to escape

Oh how I want to smash that glass
To free that pitiful butterfly

I have a hunger (a thirst) for unquenchable knowledge
And taste the sweetness of knowledge

Because knowledge is power
Yet power corrupts
Not for all who wield it, but most succumb

So I decided to seek it out
Then assigned myself the greatest challenge of all
To wield it seldom
Or never in the service of my own desires

But I have discovered this pitiful butterfly
And stumbled upon nirvana
Realizing happiness is the highest form of wisdom
