Chapter One: Losing Control
!when she is speaking in italicize she is either dreaming of talking to herself. Bolded words outside of quotation is when "the voice" inside her head speaks back to her.
Summer,
June 2008
As soon as he sat down next to me, my heart beat began to race excitedly. After all, he was my dream guy; He was sweet, caring, noble, smart, and of course sexy… perfect with be his definition if he was in the dictionary. Even his name was perfect, Dylan Kristian Furst. It was almost like a dream date except his little sister, and my best friend Nicole was there.
"Popcorn?" he asked nudging me gently.
I shook off the chill that that ran down my spine when he touched me. "Erm… no…" I whispered pretending to concentrate on the movie. But anyone with a brain could realize I was actually staring at his perfect reflection in the TV screen. His jade green eyes mesmerized me every time… with black hair that was swept over his right eye.
"Give me the damn bowl Dylan!" Nicole hissed smoothing tendrils of her silky black hair out of her blue-green eyes.
"Nicole, I was trying to be polite to our guest…" he replied, still not giving her the bowl.
"Guest? Ha! She practically lives here, mom gave her a room and everything. Now that I think about it, it was actually one of your rooms. But the point is, she is always here…" the she turned her attention to me, leaning around Dylan. "You know I love you. You're like a sister to me; all I have is this one problematic brother. You're practically family Jess..."
I nodded at her, not for a minute thinking that her aforementioned worfa would come back to bite me in the ass...
Dylan looked to me as if for confirmation on Nicole's words. "Its not so much you room, as in it is your computer room. You can have it back if you want and I can bunk with Nicole while I'm here." I sputtered quietly.
"That won't be necessary Jess..." Nicole interrupted firmly backhanding Dylan in the face when he opened his mouth to speak. "Besides the fact that none of his crap is no longer in the room, Dylan knew the rules when he set off for college in New Hampton or wherever it was he went. He stood at a chance to losing one of his rooms to one of mom's crazy schemes." she smiled smugly as she looked up at Dylan who was presently frowning, who then swiftly reached across and ruffled her hair.
"Bastard!" she yelled slapping him in the back of the head.
"You dick breast, that hurt!" he said hurling a handful of popcorn at her. "How the hell do you get California and The Hamptons mixed up?"
"You ass cracker!" she said returning a few pieces in his direction. "And excuse me for being confused... Like I know what college you go to. I have better things to do with my time than remember such trivial things my dear brother. "
"That still doesn't explain how you got them mixed up. Ones on the easy coast and the others on the west. Practically thousands of miles away from each other..." he said yelling over the TV's already loud volume.
I growled loudly immediately quieting them both. "Dammit! I missed what he said. Some of us are actually trying to watch The Notebook. IF you two could kindly…"
"You say that as if you haven't read the book and watched the movie thousands of times. I can assure you Jessalyn, whatever he said doesn't change from the first time I promise." Nicole said reaching around her brother to pat me on the knee reassuringly with her false sentitments.
"OH, I'm sorry Jess; we seemed to have left you out of our little sibling rivalry… since you're part of the family and all…" Dylan said calmly, and then poured the entire bowl of popcorn on my head.
"Okay, that's it…" I said shaking popcorn out of my hair.
"What are you gonna do? Cry?" Dylan asked standing up.
"Actually, I'm going to kick your ass," I said, as he took off running in response. Some how, he managed to leap over the couch and I stood stunned as he slipped making his landing ending up falling directly on top of me. His jade green eyes stared into my blue ones for what seemed like an eternity, then finally disappeared completely, a hand appearing in their place.
"Woo- hoo? Did that fall give you brain damage? Get off the freakin' floor!" I heard Nicole's voice yell.
I took the hand and was brought face to face with Dylan once again. His eyes seemed concerned and caring, "Are you okay?"
I nodded my brain cells still frazzled from our little staring contest.
"Hey, The Notebook is old and played; do you want to do something else? Like play video games for instance...?" Nicole shot a glance at Dylan who quickly protested.
"You know I was getting ready to go up there!" he said a small trace of anger appearing.
"The least you could do is let her play your PS3 after almost crushing her to death!" Nicole countered matching his anger.
"I did not, my foot simply got twisted up in that damn rug mom put down there! She was already on the floor!" he said defending himself.
"Nobody told you to leap your bitch ass over the couch. You slipped when you made your landing on that 'stupid rug' mom put down there!" Nicole said which was true.
They both looked over at me then. "Jessalyn! Tell us who's right!" the both of them said in unison.
"Uh... I'm going upstairs." I said and dashed up the stairs.
"See, she doesn't even want to play..." Dylan said. I pictured his beautiful face mocking his little sister, then heard her slapping him once again.
I turned on the water in the garden bath, and added some vanilla bubble bath. While the bath tub was filing I pulled my hair into a ponytail, and grabbed my iPod. Then I slid into the tub and turned the jets on.
"Oh, that's nice..." I murmured to myself, relaxing. Then I turned on my iPod and closed my eyes.
I felt a pair of eyes on me, and then opened my eyes to find Dylan's muscular body standing over me.
"Can I help you?" I asked looking up at him.
"Actually the question is can I help you?" he replied.
I looked at him confused, "Excuse Me?" I asked, not quite sure if I heard him correctly.
"Do you need some help in there?" he asked nicely again.
My eyes widened at his question as my mind pushed me to answer. "Er..." I said absolutely dumbfounded.
"I'll take that as a yes..." He sat down on the edge of the tub and put his hand in the water.
"Uh... How did you get in here? I could have sworn I locked the door..." I whispered. Actually I didn't remember any of that... I just wanted an explanation as to why he was currently caressing my inner thigh.
"The door was open... And it's cool right, we're practically family..." He said smiling, his handing inching up farther and farther.
"You know if we were family - which we aren't - this would be considered incest right?" I said sardonically closing my legs in his hand.
Looks like Nicole's big mouth has gotten me into trouble again...
Okay. I told myself taking a deep breath and squeezing my eyes closed. It's all a dream and I'm going to wake up in 1, 2, 3...
"Jessalyn, babe what are you doing?" I heard a familiar voice call.
I opened my eyes to find Dylan towering over me.
"Um... nothing..." I said trying to hide the fact that I was fantasizing about him.
"Okay... me and Nicole are going to order some pizzas; do you want some specifics on yours?"
"Um pepperoni, sausage... meat basically, no veggies..." I replied moving down farther in the tin so that the bubbles completely covered my body.
"Really, just like meat lovers? We'll split a large then. Nicole has to go and spend all the money buying a nasty vegetarian pizza, she's so weird... I swear..." Dylan complained. "Well don't stay in there too long, you'll get all wrinkly. And next time close the door." he said leaving.
"Uh no don't close the door..." I said anxiously. "You act like you've never seen a girl naked before..." I said finally opening my eyes to realize he was shirtless.
"I know, it's just that there are some people that you don't want to see naked..."
"Oh so you think that I'm ugly, gross? Is that it?" I asked insulted.
"NO... it's...I actually think that you're hot... like well... uh... um... er ... I'm gonna... yeah..." he said sputtering and pointing toward the door awkwardly.
"Oh so you think that I'm hot huh?" I said looking up at him diabolically.
"Well not like that but like, uh... bye..." Dylan said turning around to leave.
"Um Dylan... I have a secret..." He turned around to face me again, looking embarrassed. "Come over here..."
He came to the edge of the tub and I motioned for him to come closer. He stopped mere inches from my face and I whispered, "I like you too..." then leaned forward and grabbed his shirt pulling his lips squarely against mine.
My eyes flew open. "OH MY FREAKING GOD!" I screamed.
"What are you - drowning in there? Jessalyn STFU!"I heard Dylan yell from the game room down the hall, and appear in the doorway.
"Hey Jessie are you okay? I heard you all the way in the kitchen!" I heard Nicole's voice scream from the top of the stairs. "What are you doing in here?" she hissed at Dylan.
He didn't answer, just shrugged still looking at me.
"My iPod almost fell in the water..." I said composing a quick lie.
"All that for a damn MP3 player? I could see if it was your cell phone..." she muttered walking back downstairs.
Dammit Jessalyn Christine Taylor... you have got to get a grip...
A grip on what your sanity is non existant already. There's nothing for you to get d grip to...
I ignored the voice as I usually did and continued on looking up at Dylan.
"Jessie? What kind of pizza do you want?" Dylan said walking into the bathroom.
"Meat-lovers," I said closing my eyes again.
"Oh... I kind of pictured you as the anorexic-vegetarian type like Nicole... nice to finally see that one of her friends has a real appetite..."
I heard Nicole yell, "Its vegan bitch. Get it straight." upstairs.
Dylan turned around and stared at the empty doorway in amazement. "How did she... ?" he mouthed.
"I've got those mad skills..." she replied from downstairs.
He chuckled to himself, "Well that's Nicole for you..." he said rolling his eyes.
"Well um... thank you for your complement?" I said with a half smile.
He raised his eyebrows in acknowledgement and started smiling to himself for some odd reason. Beginning to back out of the the bathroom, he waved to me like a love sick child. It would have been cute if he wouldn't have ruinned the moment with "Hey... make sure that you shave... you don't want to have gorilla legs like Nicole..." he whispered and erupted in laughter.
"Get out!" I yelled.
Authors Note:
Here it is. The first chapter, its still the same first chapter of the story but it gives you a closer look into Dylan and Nicoles home life. Somewhat... But for the most part, I think that the beginning is funnier than its former chapter and longer. Well its pretty early here. And I'm kinda sleepy so here's your chapter. So give me you thoughts and bear with me because my computer decided that it was a fine time to lock itself and not let anyone have the password. Any help? All in all, that means that I'm stuck working from my blackbery on everything. Including school work. So, any total and complete epic fails on spelling and most likely grammar, please ignore them until I can get a dependable spell checker... :D Now ReeeVieeeew!
with much love
