Miya Lynn left the ghetto, her friends, and her family for a shot at love, but now her life is in danger and she has no choice but to go back. Now that she's back in the ghetto, she's even more worried than she was before.
"Get off of me Marcus!" I screeched before I was pushed into the wall of my second floor apartment.
"What did I tell you about talking to other guys?" Marcus yelled into my face.
"The guy asked me for directions to a place I never even heard of, all I did was shrug, you're over reacting." I stated cautiously.
"Do you think I'm stupid?! I saw the way you looked at him!" Marcus slapped me and I fell to the cold wooden floor.
I refuse to stay here and take this any longer. He promised me he would stop, and I was foolish enough to believe him. I have to find a way to get out of here now. I don't deserve this, I have always been true and faithful to him, I can't say that he can say the same.
He is always treating me like shit, although it wasn't always like this. When I met him, he was a sweetheart, and treated me like I was the only woman in the world for him. Like I was the most important thing in his life. When I first met him, I was fifteen, and I fell in love with him, or so I thought. Now I know I was just being naïve.
I was working as a waitress in a little café, far away from home. It took me three buses and a train to get there. I was hired at the café through pity, after they heard about my situation at home, I received sympathetic eyes from the mangers and other staff. I don't know why I need the pity but I compared my brokedown lifestyle to their swell living lifestyle and I realized if I were them I would pity someone like me. Everyone in my former household had to have a job by the time there sixteen or they were out, I wasn't sixteen yet but I still wanted a job for food and to help my mother with the bills. But I really wanted the Job to prove that I am more mature than everyone thinks. Of course my little pay check didn't do much but at least it was something, and legal. My brothers and my sister decided that drug selling is a better business deal. But that's not my style, I wanted out of the ghetto, I wanted to be successful, and once I fell for Marcus, I knew that he would be the one to help me achieve my dreams.
Marcus would come in every Thursday and sit in my area, and always at the same table. He was Eighteen, which really had me interested 'cause I have always had a thing for older guys. He had been the one to catch my eye. I am also very shy, and don't converse with people much. So when he finally noticed me I was over joyed. We started to talk more, on friendly terms. I soon found out that Marcus lived in a Middle Class area. Where I lived was an extremely Low Class area. I never told him that, and I am happy that I didn't. He probably would have left me if I did. Marcus taught me everything I know about being polite and having manners, even if he don't notice that he did, he also improved my grammar and vocabulary, something that I really needed help with.
We have been together for several years. He treated me like a queen for the first two years, then it just stopped. Then the abuse started happening, and I am sick and tired of it.
