The last laugh

I made a vow long time ago,

that to cupid's arrow i would not fall prey,

and that till my hair turns grey,

I would carefree my way go.

So I played the dating game,

and had my fun.

knowing when it was time to run.

From some clinging dame.

And all the while I mocked the god of love

little knowing not to tempt fate,

for he had set a date,

when his revenge he would have.

I caught a glimpse of you this morning;

and I think I hear cupid laughing
