I looked across the town square. At first, I didn't see anybody who looked like the girl from my dream. I then glanced towards the big oak that was on the corner and saw her. She looked exactly like the girl from my dream, with curly brown hair and green eyes. She was tall, and was looking around for somebody...presumably me.
I hesitated. Should I go up to her? Should I just wait until if she sees me? Will she even recognize me? Thoughts swirled around my head until I just decided to go towards her.
"Hello. I think I was supposed to meet you here..." I said shyly.
The girl turned towards me and gasped. "The dream...it was true! You're really here!"
"You had a dream too?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Oh. I'm sorry, but we never introduced ourselves! I'm Shaye," I said.
"I'm Jacqueline, but people call me Jacqui," she replied.
"Nice to meet you. It's a wonder we never met before!"
"Yes. Now, back to those dreams. What happened in yours? I'm wondering if mine was the same..."
"There was fighting. I saw Taylor fighting you, and then I saw someone else fighting with Taylor. Me..." I quieted towards the end of the explanation.
She'll hate me now that she knows I'll join Taylor, although I could never imagine doing such a thing! I thought.
"I'm sure that won't happen," Jacqui said, as if reading my thoughts, "Even though I just met you, I can't imagine you doing such a thing."
"Thanks. Anyway, the image disappeared, and I could hear a voice. It told me to meet you here, and that our fate was intertwined, and that we would save Cambia from Taylor."
"Mine was much the same," Jacqui explained, "but I didn't have a vision of a battle. I only heard the voice."
"So do we believe that voice? I don't recognize who it was speaking. It was hard to tell if it was even male or female!" I said.
"I say that we should trust it," Jacqui said, "It was right about meeting each other. However, the question is what we are supposed to be doing with what we were given. You said that the battle was Taylor against some other people, right?"
I nodded.
"Well, maybe it's a resistance of some sorts. There has to be something like that around here since so many people want Taylor dead."
"That makes sense, but what are we supposed to do. It would be easier if there was more of a sign, or that voice explained more," I said.
"Yes," Jacqui agreed.
Just then, Jacqui went deathly still and her eyes became glazed over.
"Jacqui!" I exclaimed, "What's going-"
In the middle of my sentence, Jacqui moved. "What happened?" I asked.
"I saw us. We were here, but it was dark outside. Around us were supplies, and two horses. The image then changed to us on the road, talking of what will happen. We were talking about the resistance. The scene changed again, and I saw Pikes Peak. Then it stopped, and I saw us here again, in broad daylight."
"I think that answers where we need to go then, and why," I said, "We need to go to Pikes Peak to meet the resistance."
"Yes. Can you meet back here at eleven?" Jacqui asked.
"Sure. I can bring the horses," I replied.
We said goodbye and I headed down the street to my home. I was passing a side street only about 3 blocks from the house, when arms grabbed me and pulled me into the alley.
