I tried to scream, but my mouth was covered by the person's hands.
"Be quiet, will you! I'm trying to help!" a man said.
I tried to scream louder.
"Will you stop!" He turned me around so I could face him. He was tall with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He could have been anyone, "I want to help you Shaye."
"How do you know my name?" I asked. I was frightened now.
"I heard your conversation with your friend," he replied.
I'm worried now...If he wants to, he could report that to Taylor, and Jacqui and I would be dead, I thought.
"Now. My name is James. I am the head of the resistance."
What? I thought that I heard wrong. He couldn't seriously be that...could he?
"Prove it," I said.
"I can't right now. You just have to trust me. Now, I have a map on how to get to the resistance. Follow it. I would go with you, but Taylor's soldiers are looking for me and if I'm seen, I will be killed. Here, just take the map," James said. He then handed me a map.
I opened it and glanced down. When I looked up, he was gone.
That was strange, I thought, but should Jacqui and I trust him?
I got home and went up to my room. I sat down and looked closely at the map.
It had our town, Golden, marked on it. It also had Denver, the capital of Cambia. The map had the little town just past Denver marked as the resistance camp. Very far away from Pikes Peak, where Jacqui's vision told us to go.
The question is, what do we trust? A strange man claiming he's the resistance leader, or a vision?
