Here we go, this is the second chapter. This one is a lot shorter, I know. But, there's not much I can do to make this part longer.

Chapter II : The Beast

My eyes shot open, my stomach rumbled, the snake was moving again. Someone entered her belly. I launched my body upright, my palms pushing off the ground. Reaching over I rubbed my shoulder, the soreness of sleep slowly fading from my limbs.
I looked to my left, blackness.
To my right, blackness.

Then, a dim yellow glow.

She's leading me to my meal. Or maybe. Finally, my doom.

Wherever they may lead, I followed the twists and turns she provided me. My feet falling heavy to the floor with each step, her belly cracking like thunder each time. My back stiff, I stopped to stretch. Thrusting my arms in the air, I stood as upright as I could, in such a cramped space, my fists punch the ceiling. I wonder how long I'd been asleep this time. Something popped in my spine, that's probably enough. I relaxed my back and lowered my arms.

How much longer must I live like this?

One foot follows the other, as I trudged onward. The dim glow of her walls, all I could see, the stagnant stench of death still hung in the air.

They're getting stronger.

I tried to assure myself, that this is it. That, soon, I would cease. That the miserable being I am would, finally, end.

They've been getting stronger.

My feet carried me further along the path she gave me. Veering left, then right, then back left, then down. It's like she had me running around in circles.

Each time, their armor gets thicker.

I felt as pathetic as the poor soul she had lured into her trap. Led to and fro, up and down, as if there's no purpose save for to confuse me.

Their swords, sharper.

But, like a tame horse, I followed her every command. Ignoring the dangers that may befall me. Unworried of how pointless this task I have been given is.

The human race is getting stronger.

It won't be long, before I am done.

Then I heard a sound. Quiet at first, slowly it grew. She was shifting, guiding it to me. Wind. It was forcing its way through her belly.

Before I am but a fable.

It hit me, a rush of cool air, bringing with it the scent of the outside world. I stopped, soaking in the fresh air, which I so rarely get to taste. Then, a second scent filled my nostrils.

My eyes flashed, the dim yellow glow was gone, the cavern walls visible as though I was a flame. My path ahead, like a trail of blood.

She had caught his fear.

I had caught his scent.

My body lurched forward, all four limbs clutching the ground; I could feel saliva running over my lips. My hunger, insatiable, I was no longer in control. A deep roar bubbled up my throat and burst from my lips like a hammer colliding with an anvil.

I am a demon.

His scent in my nostrils, he could not escape.

I won't die. No, not yet.

I am too hungry.

I am The Beast
