Crashing

"I'm gay."

It only took two words to rip her heart apart. Her world came crashing down. Her heart missed a beat as her eyes locked on his expressionless ones. To think that she had spent all these years crushing on him, hard. Tears welled up in her eyes; she let them go.

"Don't cry," he murmured quietly, wiping her tears away.

"I'm not," she whispered, her voice hoarse. I'm breaking. "Then forgive me."

She leaned forward. Their lips touched. The kiss was soft, innocent, hurt. She retreated. He didn't smile. He didn't frown. The thing she hated about him was that he was unreadable. His eyes gave no entry to his heart. If she touched him, he would flinch. But then, he spoke, the most beautiful words she'd ever heard.

"I lied."
