Epilogue
Adam stood next to Rose at the concert they were attending. It was christmas in town and they were celebrating with the parade and festival this weekend. The concert performers were Carrie Underwood and the Jonas Brothers. During the concert, Adam wrapped both of his arms around his girlfriend and held her close. Rose was fingering the locket Adam had given her a month ago for her birthday. This locket was special – the gold was a rose gold and the heart had a tiny rose engraved on its front.
Carrie had just finished performing and the brothers were being introduced on stage. The first song, Love Bug, was upbeat and the couple danced along with the screaming girls. After a few songs, they began to play the particular song that sent Adam and Rose into high spirits.
For this song, the couple turned to each other and danced just like the Homecoming dance months ago. This song brought back memories for Rose; her love for Adam, her being a suspect in murdering her friends, the mere rememberences of him.
"Are you thinking about what happened?" he asked, looking into her distant eyes.
"Not really. Just remembering—"
"Don't remember what happened."
"I'll try not to. Like it is – you may not forgive, but you cannot forget."
Adam smiled weakly and leaned down to kiss his girlfriend. Just like at the Homecoming dance, they stopped dancing and the moment lasted all but forever.
