EPILOGUE
So ended the quest of two cousins, which, years and years later, passed into legend.
Sophia Marie was sent in the custody of the English soldiers back to London, where she was tried and hanged for treason. Constantin was crowned king of France, and agreed to a truce with King Charles the Fifth of England.
Yes, it seemed that all was at peace. But it was not. Prince Edward eventually died of a pox. King Charles the Fifth died of the same infliction. Sir Joseph was killed in a small uprising in Bristol (thus the eccentric Lord Birmingham became King John the Ninth). King Constantin of France died of natural causes, shortly after becoming the father of a son (whom he named Charles, after his English friend). In the forty years after his father's death, the young Dauphin remained in hiding.
The Hundred Years War had begun.
The End
So ends the quest of two cousins. I hope you have enjoyed it.
