Wait

Full of life
You smiled at me
And kissed my lips goodbye.
Your hair glowing golden in the moonlight
With cerulean eyes that pierced right through.
You held me in your arms, and whispered softly in my ear
"I'll see you soon, my dearest Rose."
My heart fluttered in my chest
As I knew your words to be true.
I watched you drive away
Keeping your sweet words locked in my heart,
I knew I would wait.
My heart was shattered
On a brilliant sunny day.
A simple phone call declared your fate.
The emptiness and shock set upon me
As your last words rang through.
I would never hear your beautiful laugh
Or once again feel your touch.
When you said "I'll see you soon,"
Never once did I imagine it would be in a casket.
My soul grieved for its other half- its mate,
And keeping your sweet words locked in my heart,
I knew I would wait.
The truth settled on me
As I gazed upon your perfect face.
You were really gone away
To a place I could not reach.
For hours, I watched over you
And could not bring myself to walk away.
All the while praying, hoping,
That you wouldn't leave me this way.
As the time grew close
For my dreaded departure,
I smiled at you
And kissed your lips goodbye.
And keeping your sweet words locked in my heart
I knew I would wait…
I wrote this poem in my Creative Writing class, and used it as my final. I honestly believe it is the best poem I have ever written, and of course it is dedicated to Logan. I love and miss him so very much- there is never a day that I do not think of him.
