Big city slicker dreams

For a little country girl

Who's grown tired of the way things were

And the way things are

And the way things will always be.

There's no solace in simplicity,

No comfort in everything she's ever known.

Big city slicker boy

Kissed the little country girl

"Take me away from here,"

She says to the city boy, "you are so lucky"

He smiles and thinks, "But baby, you're the lucky one."

Big city slicker wedding

For the little country girl.

Her gardens used to grow flowers, but now

The earth bears only cement.

Robots wearing suits pass her. Not one looks her in the eyes.

But she's happy here,

Right?

Big city slicker girl

Visits her little country town. She can't remember when she last saw her mama.

And she can't help but mourn for the ways things were,

And all the things that might have been.
