A/N: This is a story in two point of views; Kiernan (KEER-nan) and Evelyn (EVAH-linn). This is basically two Half-immortals falling in love when they're supposed to be killing each other. That makes the Goddess of Fate kind of angry :) This might end up being an actual book, so if I have to stop one day, know that you have received much more free spoilers than anyone else. And that's what you get for being loyal to me! YAY! Right, right, the story.
Kiernan
A teenage boy in a black hoodie stood in the middle of a group of other students. They rushed to and from their classes, and for a moment he envied them, worrying only about the teacher in the next class and who like who in the gossipstream. He worried about which dimension he should jump to next, and what form he would take when he arrived.
Or I should be . . . Kiernan told himself again. Instead he was worrying about the girl he had seen in a couple of his classes. He wished he didn't care, like how his father usually didn't.
But he did care. Never before had he been unhappy with his ability to see when someone else would die, but now it bothered him. If he hadn't seen that she would die today, he would have been gone already. Instead he stood as still as stone, knowing that no mortal would be able to see him.
As he waited for her to pass by, he wondered again how he could like her. her brown hair and eyes were not particularly stunning, and she was certainly not the prettiest girl in school. But there was something about the way she walked alone to each class, making friends without becoming attached, fascinated him. She always had the best advice, and would often smile as if she knew something no one else did. She was graceful and elegant, often looking as if she would fly away.
He remebered clearly seeing the moment that she would die. She looked at something in surprise and horror as a car hurtled toward her still figure. The only problem was that she wasn't looking at the car. She wide brown eyes looked at something just out of his view.
Finally she looked at the car, a quick glance, as if it wasn't important. Then she seemed to jumpfrom her body, though it was more of a feeling than something that could actually be seen. Her body crumpled, dead, a second before the car hit her.
The vision itrigued him. This was the first time he'd seen the spirit leave the body before death in his visions. He had always just slightly altered the future by snatching away the sould before the body died.
All he had wanted was for her to like him, so that he could spend some time with her before he left. He had heard from every boy in his class that she didn't date. This had never stopped him before, so he didn't worry about it. Everyone that he wanted to like him did in a couple of days.
He wasn't allowed to keep them alive, but he could keep their souls. His father, the god of death, had allowed him to defy the laws only so much.
Just then she appeared around the corner, cutting across the parking lot in her haste to get to the next class. As she passed, he reached out the dark fire that was his life and encircled her soul, preparing to steal it from her body.
(A/N: So . . . First Chapter! Yay! Sorry it's short: There will be more, extremely shortly!)
