You've heard of the cliché shy girl and the jock guy who met and fell in love right? Well so have I. Except it didn't happen to me but my best friend, I just watched from the sidelines.

My Love Story

Prologue

I'm going to tell you about a girl who fell in love with a guy. Her name was Susie Blake. She was seventeen when she met Corey James. Corey was over six foot, he was a blonde with blue eyes, a 'jock' - as they say - and loved by everyone. Susie was shy, quiet, not very popular, a total booklover, small, brown haired and gray eyed. They met when Susie was asked to tutor Corey. She would complain for hours afterwards about his ego and how much he made her mad. In short, she was falling head over heels for him. They went to the Year 13 prom together, they danced under the stars, they walked along the beach and well, and as they say 'the rest is history' because they fell in love.

Susie Blake is my best friend. That's right. That wasn't my love story I was telling you about but my best friend's. I'm just the girl that watched her best friend fall in love while her own love life was…well, non-existent.

Don't get me wrong, I love my best friend and I love Corey too. They have that whole cliché nerd falling for jock story going on and it's beautiful to watch but heartbreaking too. You can't help but think, 'why not me?' They had been going out for four months when they went to college. I beat up the bitches who dared to mouth Susie off while Corey beat up the guys who leered at Susie. I won't go into too much detail about how they fell in love exactly, but I was there, I saw it happen. I watched as my best friend fell in love with a guy she would've scoffed at dating at the start of the year. It only made things more cliché when they ended up going to the same University, Cambridge. I went there too but it was a little hard being the third wheel, the side salad.

I bet your wondering 'what is the point to all of this is' right? Well, I'm getting to that.

While I was so stuck in the gutter with my bitterness I didn't notice my own love story unfolding. That's right. Me, the girl who watched her best friend have her cliché love story happen, finally made history books with her own love story. It's not a major cliché. I just fell in love and that my friends, is worth making history for. Sometimes, like I found out, love has strings attached...

This is just an idea that's been playing around in my head for a while. I'm not sure if this idea has been done already but I've been contemplating whether I should post something or not. So as you can see, I decided to post something. Thanks for reading!

Hopelessly Cliché
