Just a little something I wrote to get a good grade. I hope you enjoy! ^_^

We were in Walmart after a 4 hour drive and I was headed to the bathroom. Being the rebel that I am, I cut through one of the check out centers. While walking through, I heard a hysterical woman screaming at one of the cashiers about her lost daughter. I remembered the time that I thought that I had lost my little brother in Guymon, and I immediately felt sorry for the woman. I made it to the bathroom. Great, just great. It was in cleaning. I sighed loudly, causing the people walking by to stare at me strangely. Eh, I was used to it. I turned around dramatically and walked quickly to the bathroom located in the back. I was quickly losing control of my bladder and began running through Walmart in order to avoid having an accident. There it was. No more than 50 feet away, thats when I heard the small whimpering coming from the aisle next to mine. My curiosity took over and I slowed to a walk and peeked around the corner. Cuddled up to the comforters and pillows on the bottom rack was a small girl who looked to be about the age of 5. Her brown hair was stuck to her face by her tears and... snot? Gross. I kept my stride as I continued my journey to the toilet. I turned around and saw that the girl was following me! I made a sharp turn into the next aisle and checked behind me again. She was still there. I panicked. Finally I decided to look for her parents up and down the next few aisles. Heh, no one in sight. Then a thought occurred to me: t his must be the girl that the woman at the cash register had lost. I stopped and turned around, the girl was maybe a step or two behind me and stopped as I did.

Now I had a decision to make: either take this girl to her hysterical mother and risk the possibility of me not making it to the bathroom in time, or just give the girl to someone walking by and let them take care of her. Now hold on a minute, don't take it like that. Just imagine this for a second, a 14 year old girl going up to Costumer Service and telling them that she couldn't make it to the bathroom in time and there was a big mess in the back of the store, a situation that everyone that knew me would be embarrassed about. What's wrong with me!? This girl needed me and I couldn't let her down! I offered my hand to her and we both made our way through the crowd to the front of the massive store. I stopped as we neared the front. I really didn't want to make a big scene so I crouched next to the girl and pulled her long brown hair into a pony tail using my favorite black scrunchy. "Here you go. Now do you see your mommy?" I pointed to the woman dressed in the holiday colors. I watched as the small girl's face light up. "Go get her." and she was off, running and squealing at the same time. The woman turned around.

"My baby!" The woman met her halfway and embraced her daughter in a tight bear hug. I almost felt sorry for the girl, who was beginning to turn purple, but she didn't seem to mind so I smiled slightly. I began to walk to the bathrooms in the front. Surely they were done cleaning by now. However, once again my curiosity took over and I glanced back at the mother and daughter. Large, sparkling emerald eyes looked back at me and I caught my breath. We exchanged smiles and I continued on my way.

Heck yes! The cleaning lady was just leaving and there was no line in the bathroom! I guess it was both of our lucky days.

Now what was the significance of this tale? The girl showed me that maybe, just maybe I had been put on this Earth for a reason, and that you can make a difference even in the smallest way. Everyone is needed in some way or another to some out there.

"To the world you may just be one person, but to one person you may be the world." I never got that quote, but after this whole experience I think I get it. But I don't want to ruin the fun, so I'll let you figue that one out for yourselfs
