Chapter 3 Hide N' Go Make Out
I walk into the kitchen while scrubbing my wet hair with a towel. Avery and Emory are at the island with a giant box of Lucky Charms.
"Oh my God," I say. They look up.
"What?" asks Emory.
"Lucky Charms?" I says and smile. "I love Lucky Charms."
"Well, duh! Who doesn't?" Avery says.
"Yeah, they're magically delicious!" Emory exclaims. I laugh as I pour myself a bowl.
"Where's Jay?" I ask as I pour some milk into the cereal.
"Getting Joey and Erik," Emory answers. "They live about a half hour away."
"What?" I ask with a mouthful of Lucky Charms.
"Yeah, they're our closest neighbors too," Avery says. I shake my head and glance at the clock on the wall. It was almost noon.
"Did I really sleep in that late?" I ask.
"We didn't go to bed until about three," Emory says. "Of course early bird here was up at nine. He went to his secret place."
"Hey, I rather disappear while everyone is alseep, that way I don't miss anything." Avery says.
"Emory!" exclaims a voice. Then two little boys with blonde hair come running into the kitchen.
"Hey!" Emory exclaims and picks them both up. "What's up guys?" They both start talking all at once as Jay comes into the room. Then, as Emory sets them down they run to Avery, still chattering away. I smile at Jay.
"That must of been one car ride," I say.
"You're telling me," Jay says. "Hey guys, this is Kresley." Erik and Joe turn their attention to me. They both walk up calmly to me. The taller one holds out his hand.
"Hi, I'm Joe," he says. I shake his hand and smile.
"Nice to meet you Joe," I say. The younger one follows suite.
"I'm Erik," he states.
"Nice to meet you too," I say. "I heard you two had a thing for hide n' go seek." They both smile.
"Oh boy," Emory says.
"Oh come on Em, you love hide n' seek," Avery says.
"I always lose though," he whines. I look at him with raised eye brows. "No, seriously, I always lose. I have never been any good at it."
"It's true," Jay says. I laugh a little. "Okay, who's gonna count?"
"Me!" exclaims Erik. "And I want Avery as my partner."
"Partners, huh? Then I get Kresley," Jay says. I blush a little. "I need to show you my hiding spots."
"Then I get Emory," Joe says.
"Alright, let's go count," Avery says. They disappear. Then you hear the faint "One, two, three..." Jay takes my hand and pulls me out of the kitchen. He pulls me upstairs and then after going down a bunch of small hallways we come to the library. I follow him inside and we walk past a shelf and I see a door in a corner. I only saw it because Jay had moved the ladder for the shelves. He opens the door and I hurry inside. He moves the ladder back in place and then joins me in the closet.
"Well? What do you think?" he asks. It's completely dark and all I can hear is his soft breathing.
"Clever," I say. "How'd you find this place?"
"Last summer, I was looking for a book and came across it. When we playedlast year iw as in here for three hours and they still never found me. When I finally came out they were playing video games. No one knows about it but us now," he explains. I can tell he is smiling in the dark. I imagine the perfect teeth gleaming and his perfectly shaped lips. I blush and thank God it's dark. THen the lights suddenly go on. I look down and see a switch on the wall.
"Better?" He asks. I personally liked it dark, but I nod anyways. We stare at each other for a moment and then he tucks a lose of damp hair behind my ear. I blush again and wish it was dark. And just as I finish that thought it goes dark. Then soft lips meet mine. Jays arm wraps around my waist and his other hand holds my head. I run my hands through his hair and hold tightly to his shirt, to keep my hands from trembling. My heart races and my breathing gets heavier. Jay lightly pushes me against the wall.
For atleast twenty minutes me make out in the closet. I then pull away for a moment.
"They're never going to find us are they?" I ask.
"Do you want them to?" he ask in a whisper.
"Not really," I answer. Then our lips meet again.
A half hour later we are sitting on the floor and I am answering his random questions while he lightly kisses my neck. Each kiss makes me shiver, which only seems to make him kiss me more.
"Jay! Where are you?" exclaims a voice from a distance behind the door. Jay moves my head towards him one more time and we kiss again. Just as the door begins to open Jay pulls away and moves a good distance from me. Light floods into the closet as Erik and Avery open the door.
"Took you long enough!" Jay exclaims and jumps to his feet. I get to my feet too and smile at Erik.
"Wow! You guys are good!" Erik exclaims and takes Jay's hand. He pulls him out of the library.
"That was a good hiding spot," Avery says, looking at me with knowing eyes. I blush again. I think I have blushes more in the last two days than in my whole life. "What did you guys do while you waited?"
"Talked," I say. It wasn't a complete lie.
"Really?" He just stares at me. I finally give in.
"I'm sure you know what else," I say. He nods a little.
"Yeah, I figured. I just wanted to see if you'd admit it." He walks out of the library. "Most girls in your situation wouldn't."
"What are you trying to say?" I question.
"I'm not calling you a slut or anything if that's what you're thinking," he says. Actually, that was exactaly what I was thinking. "It's just that it can be hard for a girl in your dilema, you know, with resisting three sexy guys. I understand."
"Oh, don't flatter yourself," I say and cross my arms. Avery stops at the top of the stairs and turns to me.
"Are you saying you don't think I'm sexy?" he asks and takes a step forward. I instinctively take a step back, but stop myeslf form taking anymore.
"I-Well, yes, I am," I state. He then walks up to me. His face is no less than five inches from mine.
"Say it then," he says. "Say 'You're not sexy.'" I open my mouth to speak but nothing comes out as his sweet aroma overwhelms me. He tilts his head a little and then begins to move forward. Then he turns away and starts down the stairs.
"Were you about to kiss me?" I ask before he reaches the bottom. He turns back to me and smiles.
"Don't flatter yourself," he says. He then disappears down a hallway.
Four hours later I walk up to the house from the beach. I have my towel wrapped around my waist and I feel exaughsted. I had been swimming for two hours and before that I had went for a jog. I had to get a lot out of my system.
As I enter the house I hear car crashes and explosions come from the T.V. living room. I head to the fire place living room and find it empty, but the fire on. I curl up on a small love seat and stare at the fire. Soon, I drift into sleep.
