Three, Stupid, Short, Words

'I love you'

I hate those words.

Those three, stupid, short, words.

Not because when someone says it to you, it's a lie.

But because when I say it, it's not enough.

'I love you' can't say why I love you.

It can't talk about

Your beautiful smile,

Or your bright eyes

'I love you' can't say how I love you.

It can't talk about

The stars being ugly compared to you,

Or your gentle words putting a new mother to shame.

'I love you' can't say when I love you.

It can't talk about

How I loved you the second I saw you,

Or how I'll love you even after my coffin's rotted.

'I love you' can't say where I love you.

It can't talk about

The world of my dreams,

Or every place of everywhere.

So I hate those three, stupid, shot words.

Because the words 'I love you' can't get

Within a million miles of how I feel.

I guess I'll just have to wait

Until someone comes up with some stronger words.
