It was Monday morning and my first day of school ! Lucas and Troy had been here for another two hours yesterday morning. I decided to stay in my room until they left. I drove around town for a little while to get to know the place. It was actually a pretty nice place, it was kind of like a mini California. My school looked pretty nice too. My cousin Kylie wouldn't even be attending school with me, she was going on some exchange for the whole school year and wouldn't be back until her senior year!

My Dad went on and on about Lucas all through supper. Apparently his family had lived three houses down since my Dad moved in. He became good friends with his parents and got Lucas to come over and do random jobs around the house..cut the lawn, stuff like that. Lucas' Dad worked a lot so my Dad became like his second Dad. Before he knew it, Lucas was a teenager and they were watching football games together on tv. Sweet huh?

"Sandra! We should probably leave soon, you don't wanna be late on your first day!" I heard my Dad shout from downstairs

God, I cannot wait until my own car from back home gets here next week.

"Yeah Dad I'll be down in a minute." I yelled, fixing my hair one last time in the mirror.

I ran downstairs and my Dad was waiting by the door.

"All ready?" he said.

"Yup." I replied.

"Trying out for the varsity soccer team right?" My Dad asked as we drove to school.

"Of course!" I grinned back.

We pulled up to the school , it was swarmed with teenagers and all the cliques in their circles. Strangely, I still wasn't feeling too nervous though.

"Well, have a good day Sand." My Dad said as I got out of the car.

"Thanks Dad." I said waving goodbye.

I started walking towards the school entrance, there were so many kids here I don't think they'd even notice that I was new.

I went straight to the office to get my schedule.

"Hi, I'm Sandra Hennesey." I said to the secretary.

"Oh yes! Coach Hennesey's daughter." she stated.

"Yes that would be me." I said. "I was wondering if I could pick up my class schedule?"

"Certainly dear!" she replied cheerfully. "Just give me one second"

She got up and left to go print off my schedule. I leaned back against her desk looking around the office. There were two big plaques hanging on the wall, each for a student of the year. One being for highest Academics, the other being for athlete of the year. On the academics board, there was a redhead girl who was fairly small smiling brightly, with her name, 'Rebecca Cooper' under her picture. Then I looked on the the athlete plaque, and sure enough, there hung a picture of Lucas Pearson shining that fake arrogant smile. I wanted to rip the picture off of the wall.

"Here you go dear." the secretary returned handing me my schedule and also my locker number and combination.

"Thank you so much." I thanked her then left the office in search for my locker.

Luckily my locker was right in that hallway so it didn't take me a long time to find it. I opened it and put some of my stuff I didn't need to be carrying around inside. Then closed it and started walking down the hallway in search for my first class so that I wouldn't be late.

Just then, I felt an arm around my shoulder.

"Hey Sand!" I looked up and saw Lucas smiling back down at me.

All around me, the people who were once minding their own business were now staring at the arm around my shoulder and I could hear low whispers.

I quickly slipped from under his arm.

"What do you want?" I said still walking down the hallway.

"Jeese, chill Andy, just trying to be nice on your first day." he replied

"Andy?" I asked looking up at him.

"Sandra sounds like Sandy, sounds like Andy." he answered casually shrugging his shoulders.

Just then he grabbed my schedule right out of my hands, looking at my classes.

"Hmm, let's see what we've got here." he said. Then smiling, he gave it back.

"Lucky you! We have first and third class together!" he said smiling.

"Yeah.. lucky me" I groaned.

The bell for the day to begin rang and the student started flooding the hallway.

"Come on, I'll walk you to first class." he said pulling me down the hallway.

I walked into my first class, biology, still trudging along behind Lucas.

I took the farthest seat from him that I could. The rest of the students started coming into the class. Oh look at that, Troy's in this class too. Great, I thought to myself. He walked by winking and smiling at me then took the seat next to Lucas.

The teacher walked in after all of the students had entered and taken their seats. She was a a middle aged woman but looked pretty nice.

"Alright class settle down, settle down." she said as the class became silent, realising the teacher had arrived.

"Alright, I hope you all had a good summer, and I understand we have a new student?" she asked looking around.

"Yeah, That's me!" I said , as she turned to look at me.

"I'm Sandra Hennesey" I continued.

"Coach's daughter?" I heard someone ask. Wow, my Dad seems to be quite the popular guy around here.

"Yes." Lucas and I both answered in unison. I turned to look at him but he was just smiling back at me.

I rolled my eyes and turned around.

"Well it's very nice to have you Sandra. I'm " she said with a bright smile then turned to the board to begin the class.

We didn't actually do any work, just went over an introduction to the course, and before I knew it, the class was over. Everyone had began getting up and leaving for their next class, so I checked my schedule, packed my stuff up and left to go to my math class.

And then to my pleasure, once again who had shown up at my side but Lucas. This time accompanied by Troy.

"Hey Sandra!" Troy greeted me. I probably wouldn't be so irritated by him if he wasn't best friends with Lucas.

"Hi Troy." I said back with no enthusiasm in my voice.

"How's your first day going so far?" he asked.

"I don't know Troy, I've been here for about an hour and 15 minutes." I said sarcastically.

"Anyway.." Lucas interrupted. "Just wanted to come tell you, you can sit with us at lunch."

"No thanks, I'm good." I said, then continued walking down the hallway. Until I felt a hand on mine that turned me around.

"Why not?" he said looking confused. "Let me explain the way this school works." he said, putting an arm around my shoulder.

"Don't touch me." I said interrupting him.

He chuckled then took his arm off before continuing.

"Anyway, this school is so into the 'cliques' and 'social groups' it's unbelievable. Us.." motioning to himself and Troy "and the rest of our friends being at the top of course."

I gave him a look as to say that he sounded ridiculous.

"Don't worry, it's not like the ones in movies, the blond skanks and the guys who sleep around, we're not like that..well except for Troy here, he's got one too many hormones." he said laughing.

"Shutup." Troy said smiling, knowing it was the truth.

"So yeah, we're actually more of the 'good-looking/athletic' type." he said, still sounding ridiculous.

I just stood there staring at him.

"Come on, you didn't notice everyone looking at you all morning, they know one when they see one.. you'd fit in perfect, your good looking.." he said smirking, making me want to puke. "And , you're probably going to end up as captain of the varsity soccer team, quite the soccer player you are." he said winking at me.

Wait, how'd he know that, it's not like I've ever played around here before.

"How'd you know that?" I snapped at him.

"Oh you know.." he said winking again. "See you at lunch Andy."

And before I could argue back they were both gone and already walking down the hallway.

I sighed and continued walking to my next class. Now that he brought it up, there was quite a few people staring at me and smiling shy smiles as I walked by. I hadn't even noticed before.

I walked into my math class and was immediately waved down by a very pretty girl with brown-blonde hair.

"Hey, I'm Marcy, I saved this seat for you!" she said.

That's weird, pretty sure I've never seen this girl in my life.

"Hi, I'm -"

"Sandra! Yeah I know" she said smiling. "Luke told me about you"

Oh, that makes more sense.

"Oh." I replied.

She laughed at my reaction.

"Don't worry about him, he's not that bad of a guy, he's just a little...caught up in his reputation." she said laughing.

"You're pretty." she said, "I can see why Luke likes you." she said smiling and flipping open her binder.

"No, no really, it's not like that at all.. we're not even friends really." I replied quickly.

"Alright then.." she said not looking convinced "I'm just saying, he's not usually so welcoming like this.. don't worry though, I totally don't like him like that, we've been friends for a while." she continued.

"That's nice." I simply replied.

"I also hear you're quite the soccer player. I play forward..right wing"

How everybody knows that I do not know, but my spirits did rise at the mention of the school's team.

"Really! That's awesome!" I said back brightly. "I play forward too, usually center." I added in.

"Great! We lost a lot of players this year, including, center forward and captain." she said winking. "You'll be at try-outs right?"

"Defineately!" I replied ".. but, i don't know why you all think I'm going to become captain or something? It's only my first year here."

"Doesn't matter." she replied back, shrugging her shoulders. "If you're good, you're good."

The teacher walked into the room and went through the whole 'new-student-routine' . Just like my last class, I didn't learn much. I did however learn everything I possibly could about Lucas, Troy and all the rest of them. Turns out the two of them were the guys that everyone drooled over. I couldn't for the life of me see why.. besides for their amazingly beautiful features. Ugh, I did not just say that! Anyway, Lucas was really head of it all, girls would throw themselves at his feet for him, and Troy was..just as Lucas had said, well a bit..over-taken by his hormones. He hooked up with girls on a regular basis. But was apparently a cool guy and a loyal friend, according to Marcy. Before I knew it, the bell rang and Marcy was pulling me off to the cafeteria against my own will to sit with them. I actually really liked her, she was really nice and hopefully my soon to be team mate. Lucas however, I was not quite looking forward to being around.

When I walked into the cafeteria, I looked around realising that they were right. I've never seen a school so focused on social cliques in my life. The tables were split into every category you could think of. Everyone was sending glances towards Lucas' table as if they were hoping he'd invite them over. When I walked in, it was as if everything stopped and everyone just starred at me in awe.

"Hey Andy, over here." I heard Lucas yell.

No way, I thought to myself. Marcy had gone off to get food, so I was no longer being dragged to that table. I shook my head at him smirking until he rose form his chair. Damnit!
He walked over to me and grabbed my hand. I heard the gasps.

"Come on And, don't make a scene."

"No! I don't even like you, what makes you think I want to come sit with you?" Everyone had stopped what they were doing and were listening and watching our conversation.

"Sure seemed like you liked me at that party that night." he said winking.

Oh now he was really making me mad!

Oh dear God, I did not just say that out loud.

The whole cafeteria gasped, and Lucas just stared at me realising what I had just said.

I heard whistles and cheers coming from the rest of the students. I looked around at my other options of quite the creepy people offering for me to come sit with them. Lucas' table was suddenly looking like not such a bad idea.

"There. Now everyone knows." he said smiling as if nothing was wrong. "Now will you come sit?" he said ignoring the rest of the students.

I heaved a heavy sigh. "...fine" I mumbled. Then walked over to their table as the rest of the cafeteria seemed to return to their own business.

I sat down and got introduced to everyone sitting their, they seemed pretty nice actually. Almost every single one of them playing on some sort of varsity team.

Sitting with them really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, once I was able to ignore almost everything Lucas had said and not pay attention to the fact that Troy was hitting on every girl at the table. When there was about 15 minutes left of lunch, someone slipped into the seat next to me.

"Hey, I'm Jake." I heard a deep voice say.

I looked over to see, not surprisingly, another extremely good-looking guy who must have just showed up at the table because he hadn't been there when i got introduced to all of them.

"Hi, I'm Sandra" I said flipping my hair back. What can I say, all he had to do was say hi and I was already getting lost in his eyes.

"It's nice to meet you Sandra" he said flashing me his smile which I could have stared at all day.

I heard a sneer and could see Lucas glaring at Jake out of the corner of my eye..
