Calla Lilies
"Welcome to Lily's Flowers, do you need any suggestions or help today with finding some flowers?"
"Oh, no, thank you. I'm okay," I mumbled, not bothering to look up at who it was that had greeted me the moment I stepped inside the small flower shop.
I aimlessly walked around, stopping occasionally to pick up a flower or two, then putting it back down. I sighed and sat down on a small wooden bench located near some tulips. I began to dig into my purse, looking for the name of the flowers I was supposed to be looking for.
"Are you sure you don't need any help?" It was that male voice again. The one that had greeted me. He proceeded to sit down next to me, and I turned away from him, still looking for that piece of paper.
"Ooh, the cold shoulder," he said. I could hear the smirk in his voice. I rolled my eyes, despite the fact that he couldn't see my face.
"I'm just going to ask you one more time. Are you sure that you don't need any h-"
"Yes, I'm perfectly fine!" I snapped at him, whipping around. My eyes met his and my jaw dropped.
"Miss me?" he asked with a goofy grin on his face. He answered himself by childishly singing to me, "Miss me, miss me, now you gotta kiss me."
My face began to turn a pinkish-red, and I stupidly asked him, "Is that really you, Matt?" I stopped for a second before continuing on. "I-I mean, I know it's you. I can tell. You look exactly like you did in high school, it's just you look so different," I stuttered, most likely incoherently. Those stupid pretty blue eyes.
"So," Matt started, "I look exactly the same, but I look so different, now, do I?" he returned, smiling again.
"I-I meant that, you know, your hair and stuff, well, it got longer, right?" I squeaked, my face beginning to heat up. That damn smile.
"Yes, it did. And I-"
"And, and, um, and you dyed it, didn't you?" I asked, just now noticing how close our faces were. Mine red from embarrassment and his tanned from the sun.
"Mmhm," he mumbled. He turned his head slightly to an angle, and I forced my eyes to shut as tightly as possible. I felt his breath on my neck.
"You're still just as easy to seduce as ever," he whispered. You're just as immature as ever, I thought to myself, though I knew I really wanted to tell him how amazing he still looked. I hesistantly opened my eyes, and he pulled away, grabbing the small piece of paper out of my hands. "Calla lilies? How many do you need? A dozen?"
Dumbfounded by what had just happened, I simply nodded my head once, unable to speak, unable to get up and run away. He walked to the back-left corner of the store and pulled out a bouquet of a dozen calla lilies.
"That's $34.99," he simply said. I managed to get up and hand him my credit card. He swiped it, punched a few buttons, and handed it back to me, along with the flowers. "Have a nice day!" he called out smugly as I left the store.
A/N: I'm sorry if this one is a dissapointment. I wrote it fairly quickly (half an hour?), and I mostly just want to know if people like the idea of it. I was thinking about making it into about a 10 chapter story if anyone liked the idea, but if not, I'll just work on something else. x]
