Alone

There

Do you remember that girl?

Sitting by that mare?

All alone except for that horse?

Was she destined to have no other company?

To be alone but for the animals

To here nothing save nature's symphony

All alone?

Maybe she wanted to be alone

To be without conversation

Except on the phone

Or did society reject her?

There were tears in here eyes

Why is that?

She was watching the butterflies

Crying

To be by oneself

Without company

It makes me wonder about myself

To be alone for eternity…

Do you remember that?

That girl sitting all alone?

That girl was me

You could have at least said hello

Years have passed since then

I won't hold that same grudge

Seeing the men

Pass you by ignoring you

It makes me sad

To know kindness' loss

It drives me mad

To know that you are all alone

Like I was

So long ago

It's still a fuzz

of painful memories

I smile and extend a hand

Why should you be alone?

How is that theirs to demand?

If you are alone

At least I might be some kind company

In that cold abyss that is loneliness
