Chapter Two
It had been a long week, but finally the weekend had come. Since Fallon didn't have any meetings at the studio, she had decided to go to a nearby café for some quiet time to herself and for lunch. She packed herself a book and double checked for her wallet. Today I'm getting some serious me time- she thought as she left her empty apartment. Cheryl had left early to get some work done at the nearby Lively! Club. This had left Fallon the house to herself, except Fallon didn't really feel like cooking for herself today. Plus she had needed the outing…a little celebration that so far the radio was liking her single, and that Popjustice hadn't commented on it so far.
Fallon walked to the café, which was located at the end of the street across from the house. As she entered, she was glad to get out of the January cold. She went and ordered an extra large hot chocolate and toasted chicken club sandwich, along with a couple of chocolate chip cookies. She paid for her food and took it with her to the upper level of the café. She found herself an empty table and settled down to unwind and enjoy her food and book.
After a while she had finished her food, and had made headway on her book. Fallon had decided to re-read Twilight. She was an admitted addict. As she was reading she mumbled to herself. "Oh Edward…why couldn't you exist in real life?" Fallon sighed. "Is life that bad without me?" Came a reply. Fallon looked up, startled. There was a man standing in front of her. Well he was a few years older but not by much from what it looked like. He was smiling at her. "Sorry I couldn't help but over hear your thoughts…" He said to her sheepishly. "No it's my fault for not locking them away in a vault…instead of saying them out loud." Fallon said with a blush of embarrassment. "Can I have a seat…everywhere else is full." He said quickly. Fallon looked around, and sure enough every other seat was full. "Yea sure." She told him.
"My name is Daniel, by the way. Daniel Luis Santos." Daniel introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, Daniel. My name is Fallon Lira Stevens." Fallon told Daniel. She didn't know why she had followed his format. Giving him her whole name. The two of them looked over each other. Fallon noticed that Daniel had brown hair, and his skin was a little tan, and he was tall with an athletic build. He had blue eyes. "You don't look like you're from here." Fallon told him as she observed him. "Is it that obvious? Or is it just my non-English accent?" Daniel said with a laugh. "Oh I didn't mean it to sound rude…you're just slightly tan…and it's winter here. I didn't really notice the non-existent accent." Fallon said with a deeper blush. He was looking at her with a smile. He's gorgeous-She thought.
"I'm actually here from Portugal. I have some work to do here. So there's nothing wrong with my English?" Daniel asked her. His English she noted was very good. "No there isn't anything wrong. You speak well. I mean I've heard Cristiano Ronaldo speak in his TV interviews, but he's got nothing on you." Fallon said truthfully. Daniel laughed at that. "It's probably because my mother is Canadian. She even sent me to school there for a few years." Daniel told Fallon. At that her eyes widened. "Wow! I'm from Canada too!" She told him happily. "Really? Which area?" He asked her, intrigued. "I was born in London, Ontario; but I grew up in Brampton." She told him. "Wow! My mother is from Thunder Bay." Daniel told her.
"So what are you here for?" Fallon asked with inquisitiveness. "Well I am hoping to upgrade my previous job from Portugal, over here." Daniel replied evasively. Fallon noticed how he didn't really answer her question. So she let it go. After all just because he was sharing her table, didn't mean he had to tell her everything. "What about you? Do you work?" Daniel asked. Now it was Fallon's turn to be evasive. "I have a flexible job, but mostly I study at the nearby university." She told him. "What are you studying?" Daniel asked. "Well my degree will be in general sciences with a major in Chemistry and minor in Biology. So that I can teach in elementary or high schools." Fallon told him. This was true. Fallon had decided to finish her studies so that if her career as an artist didn't work out, at least she would have a plan b. "Ambitious, isn't it?" Daniel asked. "Not really, I mean I could go for the higher degrees…they would just take more time." She told him.
The two of them settled in to comfortable silence. Asking questions now and then. Fallon continued her book, but her mind wasn't into it. Her mind was in constructing a picture of Daniel. He really was gorgeous. As time passed, Fallon noticed that she was not getting anything done. She took out her cell phone to check the time and saw that it was almost 2:30pm. She had to get some groceries, cook something for her and Cheryl's dinner…since it was Fallon's turn, and start on her work from school. She started to put away her things and got up to put on her jacket.
"Leaving so soon?" Daniel asked. Fallon couldn't help but smile at his disappointment. "Yea I have to get some errands done." She told him. "Alright, well then can I call you sometime?" He asked her hesitantly. "Yea, sure." Fallon couldn't help but feel her heart skip a beat with joy. The two of them exchanged numbers. Fallon waved goodbye as she headed downstairs. She left the café and couldn't help but shout with joy as she got further away from the café.
Once she was done the groceries and cooking, Fallon's giddy mood wouldn't let her concentrate on her work. After a good half hour Fallon gave up trying to force herself to work. As she sat at her computer table waiting for Cheryl to arrive, Fallon searched the web. She eventually found herself looking at which had finally posted a review of her single. She crossed her fingers and started to read:
The Single That Girls Aloud People Didn't Want You To Hear But Fallon Does!
So instead of trying to woo us over with her own tracks, Fallon has decided to cheat. Except she cheats us exceptionally well. With her upcoming album not being full of shit this time. At least that's what her people are saying…or maybe hoping to say. Fallon has decided to give us an album full of covers. Even her first single is a cover. Maybe she's taking a page out of Westlife's book.
Unfortunately…we like this new direction she's going in…well technically it's an old direction since they aren't really her songs. So anyways we were the ones who told you how much we loved 'Memory of You' when Girls Aloud released it on the special edition CD which no one could actually hear. Now we're telling you how much we love Fallon's 'Memory of You' which is being released on a normal CD which you can actually hear. The B-Sides are nicely done too. Not at all like her usual crap. The B-sides for this single include: surprise surprise…'The Loving Kind' which is also by Girls Aloud…and 'Heaven Has To Wait' by ex-s clubber Rachel Stevens.
We must admit…it is quite cheeky for Fallon to be releasing the single with the B-side which was a single once upon a time. Anyway…how long do you think Fallon will last? At this rate who knows…we'll be watching though.
Track rating… 8.5/10 (we took off points for cheating and being clever)
As soon as Fallon had finished reading the review, she was filled with happiness. Finally after all this time PJ almighty had finally accepted her, well in their own way they had kind of accepted her.
Fallon couldn't wait to tell Cheryl. Just then the phone rang. Fallon got up to see who it was. The caller ID said it was Craig. "Hello?" She said tentatively. "Fallon! We finally did it! We cracked PJ!" Craig shouted into the phone. Fallon smiled as she held the earpiece a little bit away from herself. "I know Craig. Thanks for helping me make it this far!" Fallon said sincerely. "I knew you would get there!" He said euphorically.
