No More

A week went by, and a lot of people just stared and commented, "Hey, that's the girl! Rachel Brink! The one who was with Demitri."

I would just fake smile and keep on walking.

Then, finally Demitri's parents came back unexpectedly from their business trip, and we were hanging out at his house. We were watching a movie and eating popcorn.

"Demitri." we heard from behind.

I turned around to see their parents. "Mom. Dad." Demitri said in a bit of shock. "How was the business trip?"

Their faces were solemn and did not look happy.

I just stood there, then smiled and waved at them. "It's nice to see you again."

Then Demitri's mom walked up towards me with a furious face. And she did something that I would never expect her to do.

There was a resounding noise of her hand going across my face. I just stood there in shock and tears stinging my eyes.

"Don't ever show up in front of me again! Do you hear me!?" Demitri's mom screamed.

I stood there in shock. Then Demitri came in. "Mom! What the hell do you think you're doing!?" he stood in front of me.

"Get out of the way. And get her out of here!" his mom screamed louder. Demitri's dad just watched in silence… so I was guessing that he was agreeing with whatever his wife was doing.

"I-I-I'm sorry…" I stuttered and I ran out of their house with tears spilling out of my eyes.

"Rachel!" Demitri called, but I kept on running. Then he turned back to his parents, "Why the hell would you slap her!?" he yelled. "She didn't even do anything!"

"I saw the news, Demitri." his mom said gravely.

"What about it!? You knew that we were dating since a long time ago!" he argued.

"Yes. Now it's time to end it."

"What the hell!?"

"It's better for the company. You need to marry someone of status and someone who can benefit the company."

"Ever since your little business blossomed into a huge company, you changed too much. You treat everyone that isn't the same status as you like horse shit."

"You watch your mouth with your mother, Demitri." his dad butted in.

"If you won't end the relationship, then trust me, I will." his mom continued.

"Nothing will ever separate us. You should know that by now." Demitri glared at them.

The next day was Sunday… I just stayed in my room all morning, still thinking about what Demitri's mom did to me… Our families had always been very close and inseparable. But now that I thought about it… ever since that company started, our families had stopped talking.

"God… this is such a mess…" I sighed. Then my phone vibrated.

Demitri 9:36

Meet me at the Corner Library.

I sighed to myself and got up to go meet Demitri.

I drove slowly to the library and parked. Then after I walked in, I found Demitri with sunglasses and a hoodie covering his face.

"Ray." he called over.

I faked a smile and walked over.

"You okay…?" he asked.

"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" I acted.

"Ray… I'm not stupid." he brushed his thumb across the cheek that his mom had hit.

"Demitri… it's over. I'm fine." I moved away and just smiled up at him.

"I'm so sorry…" he smothered me in his chest. "I don't even know why they would do that… God… this is such a mess…"

Exactly what I said this morning… I thought to myself.

"Come on…" he smiled as he held out his hand.

"Demitri. Do you want to get on the news again?" I reminded him.

"It's fine… we'll stay in the car. I got the windows tinted pretty dark." he smirked.

I shook my head disapprovingly… but… had a smile on my face. "Fine…" I sighed.

Demitri drove towards an abandoned, but beautiful beach and just parked the car on the sand. The waves pounded on the shore and the sun danced on the waters' surface.

"What do you say?" Demitri looked over.

"Beautiful…" I breathed.

We just sat there watching birds fly by and the water move. Demitri took a hold of my hand and drew random patterns on them and smiled. It was relaxing and just full of happiness…

All of a sudden there was a click. And Demitri's car door opened.

"What the hell!?" he yelled. There was a bodyguard standing there and started to pull out Demitri from the car. Then the other side of the car opened.

My side. I turned and looked. Another bodyguard… He took a hold of my arm and pulled me out of the car.

Then the two led us to two separate cars.

"Ow! Let go of me!" I struggled. The guy was grasping at my arms way too hard. "Who the hell are you!?" I screamed at them. I was pissed that they interrupted my time with Demitri.

Demitri started to laugh, "That's my baby." Then his face turned serious again. "Now get your shitty hands off her!"

"Demitri!" I screamed as the bodyguard led me towards a car.

"Get your shitty hands off her!" Demitri yelled as he was pushed into another car.

There was another driver in my car. I looked out towards Demitri's car, but it was already driving away.

"Who the hell are you guys?" I asked them.

"Are you Rachel Brink?" one of the guys asked.

I looked at them then answered, "Yeah…" I said cautiously.

"We will be dropping you off at home." he said and turned around.

"What? Who are you to just drop me off anywhere you please?"

"Just be quiet and sit still."

I was way too pissed to say anything. I just stared out the window and wondered about what happened to Demitri.

When they had dropped me off, I ran to my room to get my phone. I quickly sent a text message to Demitri.

Ray:

Demitri, what happened?

Demitri's POV

I hopped onto my bed and read her message. I started to type, but my mom burst into my room. I just sighed angrily. "Now what do you want?"

"Phone." she walked up to me.

"Yeah, right." I scoffed. "You separated us two enough already, leave me alone." I got up and started to walk away, but my mom just followed and snatched the phone right out of my hand. Then she started to press buttons.

"What are you doing?" I demanded to know.

Then, I realized she was calling Ray…

"Hello? Is this Rachel?" she said into the phone.

From afar, I could hear Ray's voice. "Demitri…?"

"Mom. Hang up the damn phone, right now!" I yelled at her. I started walking towards her to take away the phone, but the two bodyguards came up again and held my arms back as my mom kept on talking to Ray.

Rachel's POV

"Demitri…?" I asked into the phone.

Then, I heard Demitri's voice yelling from afar.

"Hello?" I said again.

"Rachel. I'm warning you. Stay away from my son. Do you understand me!?" Then the call ended…

I closed my phone and just hugged my pillow pretending it was Demitri… Ever since Demitri and his parents' business with their hotel had gone up, their life had completely changed and their status had shot up the roof. And because of that our relationship was getting harder to keep. Girls screamed and squealed towards Demitri and gave me a cold glare. My parents were worried for me, and Demitri's parents hated me. Just thinking more about what would become of us made more tears spill out of my eyes. As I cried… my phone vibrated. As soon as it started vibrating, the thought of Demitri's mom came into my thoughts and her voice clouded my ears. But I mustered up all my courage and opened my phone. It was a text message. I tapped my screen and pressed 'view.'

Meet at Princeton.

It was Demitri this time… I couldn't go… not after what his mother did and would do. I just put my phone under the pillow and ignored it. But then my phone vibrated again. I sighed to myself and looked at it again. Another text message.

I don't care if you don't come, but I'll be waiting… I don't care if it's ten minutes, ten hours, ten days, or ten weeks. I'm waiting.

Dammit... now what? Well, go! Definitely not! Why the hell not!? First, he's just exaggerating and second of all his mother is going to kill me. Just go! I can't! Dammit, Ray! Just go!

I sat and thought on my bed… then eventually I changed from my sleeping shorts to jean shorts that were tattered with a black blouse on top. I slipped on a pair of black heels and went out the door. I drove towards school and looked around and found Demitri.
