Dedicated to people who aren't scared to take a chance, even if they don't think they'll be any good. Especially if they don't think they'll be any good. Inspired by my sister, who started singing a week ago and has more guts than I could ever dream of.
My breaths are shallow,
quick and dry against the
pound
pound
pound
of my fiercely leaping heart.
I'm not ready –
my art is mediocre,
untamed by age and wisdom,
granted this chance by my
"natural talent."
I'm not ready –
my palms are itchy,
my thoughts are itchy
as I consider my
lack of practice, preparation.
I'm not ready –
they're watching and waiting
for some miracle,
some untasted talent
that I just don't have.
I'm not ready –
I shouldn't be here –
I can't do this –
But I can –
I should –
I am.
This is happening.
My steps are strong,
steady and in time with the
pound
pound
pound
of my fiercely leaping heart.
