Chapter 11
"And where the hell does you to thank you are going?" The grizzled old man asked us without removing the shotgun from my face.
"We where on are way to do some hunting so we could have some fresh meat instead of the canned crap." I said as I put myself in-between him and Alfred.
"Did you come from that island out yonder?" He asked me still with the shotgun in my face.
"Yeah. What's it to you?" Alfred asked stepping out towards my side with his .357 drawn.
"Kid don't you thank that's a bad idea with me aiming this shotgun at your friends head here?" The man asked Alfred.
"No not really considering that guns empty and mine is fully loaded." Alfred said very coolly.
"Ok I'll call your bluff kid." The man said as he pulled the trigger on the shotgun. I and Alfred both smiled when we heard it click on a bad primer. The grizzled old man looked from me to Alfred and laid the gun down at my feet.
"So where do we go from here?" He asked Alfred.
"Well from my point of view you have some answers to give us." I said.
"Such as." He said.
"What where you doing out here with all the zombies and why weren't they attacking you?" I asked him as I started reloading the shotgun.
"I've been running from them trying to avoid them and was hiding in a tree when I heard this all start. As to why they weren't attacking me I have no clue." He said.
"Ok well I suggest you get on your way before I change my mind on letting you go." I said.
"Ok but you wouldn't send an old man off with an empty stomach would you?" He asked me and Alfred.
"You bet your ass we would." Alfred said as he cocked the hammer on his .357 magnum.
"Ok I'll be on my way then." He said as he turned back into the woods around the lake.
"Well that sure was interesting wasn't it Trent?" Alfred asked me.
"Interesting isn't the way I'd put it." I said as we started walking back to the truck stepping over the dead bodies.
"Well I thank we may have scared all the wild game away form here so how far do we go before we try again?" Alfred asked me.
"I don't know I need to get a map and see what's around the area before I know that." I said.
"Where are we going to have to go to get the maps you need?" Alfred asked me.
"Hopefully a gas station if not then we'll need to go to wal-mart." I said as we started driving down the road.
