Deluge

Slowly, slowly, dawning, creeping

Footsteps on the fragile planks;

Gently, gently, rising, dripping

Armies gather from the flanks;

Calmly, calmy, flowing, dancing

Waters frothing at their core;

Strongly, strongly, marching, pressing

Waves are tearing down our doors;

Loudly, loudly, banging, whipping

Hailstones falling from above;

Quickly, quickly, clasping, gath'ring,

Sink the ship and drown the dove.

Quickly, quickly, clasping, gath'ring,

Bodies frail, once so demure;

Loudly, loudly, banging, whipping

Cries rise desperate, insecure;

Strongly, strongly, marching, pressing

Ice that's cast in iron forms;

Calmly, calmy, flowing, dancing

Waters rise in silent storms;

Gently, gently, rising, dripping

No more will, no more demands;

Slowly, slowly, dawning, creeping

Death takes hold of my soft hands.
